Drake Maye has long wowed NFL scouts, with arm strength and physical tools that have made him one of the top quarterback prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft. Drake Maye’s Unreal 80-Yard Pass Goes Viral

Maye took the social media world by storm on Sunday after a clip of him hurling the ball down the field to hit the crossbar went viral.

He starts from well behind his own 35-yard line and unleashes a mammoth throw down the field that travels right around 80 yards in the air and hits the crossbar, with a celebration ensuing soon after the impressive throw.

Maye is one of the top prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft, and his arm strength is a big reason why. The North Carolina product is widely regarded to be among the top three quarterback prospects in the draft, if not the top two, alongside USC’s Caleb Williams and LSU’s Jayden Daniels.

A recent PFN mock draft has the trio being selected with the first, second, and third overall picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, with Maye going third to the New England Patriots.

Maye certainly has measurables that make him an intriguing NFL prospect. He was listed at 6’4″ and 230 pounds during his time at North Carolina, which is right around the prototypical size for an NFL quarterback despite the success of some players with smaller builds.

Maye put up impressive collegiate stats during his time with the Tar Heels as well. He capped off his collegiate career by throwing for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while also rushing for 449 yards and nine scores as a senior.

Those numbers came on the heels of an even stronger 2022 season, which saw Maye throw for 4,321 yards, 38 touchdowns, and seven interceptions alongside rushing for 698 yards and seven scores across 14 games played.

Although he certainly has his flaws, Maye is considered to be perhaps the most NFL-ready quarterback in the class given his success in areas that translate to the league. Williams is widely regarded as the top quarterback prospect due to his elite creation ability, but Maye has shown an ability to be strong in that regard, too.
