Fantasy WR Injury Report | Week 17
Keeping your fantasy football team up to date is crucial for success during the fantasy football playoffs and championship games. In all hopes, you’ve put yourself in a position and reached the final weekend.
Some of the most notable skill players on the fantasy WR injury update for Week 17 include Golden Tate, Jakeem Grant, and several other impact players. Therefore, we’re talking about major point swings hanging in the balance. That’s a lot of potential points that could sway what happens in your championship game.
Below is information regarding our Week 17 fantasy injury report and status, along with additional wide receivers around the league — those of which are sorted by conference.
Golden Tate will not play in Week 17
The Giants will be without wide receiver Golden Tate for their Week 17 finale against the Cowboys. Golden Tate has been dealing with a calf injury that caused him to miss Week 16.
The ten-year veteran has been a mildly productive wide receiver for the Giants this season. Golden Tate has recorded 388 receiving yards this season on only 35 receptions. However, Tate has seen a sharp decrease in 2020, despite playing in one more game than he did in the previous season.
In 2019, Tate was one of the Giants’ most productive receiving options, recording over 600 receiving yards and six touchdowns. With Golden Tate missing the season’s end, New York will have to rely on other options, including Sterling Shepard. Shepard should be a target for those looking to replace Golden Tate in their lineup.
Jakeem Grant remains questionable for Week 17
January 3: Jakeem Grant is inactive for the Dolphins Week 17 matchup.
With a big game approaching for the Miami Dolphins, they’ll need weapons at their disposal. Unfortunately, wide receiver Jakeem Grant remains questionable going into the final week of the regular season. Grant is dealing with an ankle injury that has been hobbling him for a couple of weeks now.
Jakeem Grant returned to practice this week in a limited role, but it does not mean he will play against the Bills in Week 17. Should he sit this week, Jakeem Grant will likely be ready for the Wild Card Weekend game if the Dolphins qualify. Earlier in the week, Jakeem Grant was announced as being out for this game, but his return to practice has changed his game status to questionable.
Julio Jones will not make a return in Week 17
The Falcons sat their star wide receiver in Week 16 against the Chiefs and he won’t play again in Week 17. Julio Jones is out for the season finale. Jones has been battling this hamstring issue throughout the season. He recently sought out different recovery methods, but the veteran isn’t 100% just yet. It also appears he is resisting a complete shutdown, but that won’t be the case.
The Falcons’ offense has looked drastically different at times when he is not on the field. Jones’ up and down level of play has been a bit disappointing for fantasy managers who were hoping for a big year. Jones won’t see the field again this season after all.
Sammy Watkins will be out for Week 17
The Chiefs could be down a wide receiver going into their Week 17 finale. Sammy Watkins suffered a calf injury against the Falcons in Week 16. However, his injury doesn’t appear to be serious, but it will keep him out for Week 17.
After Tyreek Hill was hit with a hamstring injury, having Watkins go down so late in the season was detrimental to his value in the playoffs. He is listed as out in our Week 17 fantasy WR injury report, and the team will hold him out for the matchup against the Chargers. This would give Watkins optimal time to recover, as the Chiefs have the first-round bye solidified.
Larry Fitzgerald is listed as questionable for Week 17
The Cardinals might be heading into their final game without their veteran wide receiver. Larry Fitzgerald is questionable for Week 17 due to a groin injury.
Outside of missing one game due to testing positive this season, Fitzgerald has not missed a contest due to injury in seven seasons. He will likely be a game-time decision as the Cardinals head into a divisional battle with the Rams. Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that the Cardinals are not optimistic about having Fitzgerald available.
The 37-year-old receiver has had a relatively quiet season this year, only scoring one touchdown on the season. With Week 17 being a must-win situation for the Cardinals, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the veteran suit up for a shot at the playoffs on the line.
Cole Beasley will not play against Miami in Week 17
While still being listed as questionable on the injury report, Cole Beasley is not likely to play in Week 17. In a game where they don’t necessarily need to win, there’s no reason to force Beasley on the field while he is injured. Beasley has been dealing with a knee injury and will probably take the week to heal and get ready for the playoffs.
Beasley has been one of the biggest surprises for fantasy managers and will finish the season only 33 yards short of his first 1,000-yard season. After setting career highs in targets, yards per catch, and touchdowns in 2019, Beasley has set career highs in targets, catches, receiving yards, yards per game, and yards per catch this season. He has been a big reason for Josh Allen’s growth in year three.
Kenny Golladay likely done for the season, will not play in Week 17
Lions WR Kenny Golladay has missed every game since before Thanksgiving and his season is likely over. Golladay has been out due to a hip injury. He was not available for practice this week due to the injury. A productive receiver in 2019, Golladay has been hurt for the majority of this season. Although he’s been trying to return, his season looks to be over.
D.J. Chark likely out for Week 17
With the season well out of reach and the top draft pick secured, Jaguars wide receiver D.J. Chark won’t be active in Week 17. He suffered a shin injury and will not play in Week 17. Chark recorded 62 receiving yards and one touchdown in Week 16 against the Bears.
Chark has been a bright spot for the Jaguars’ offense, recording over 700 receiving yards and five touchdowns on the season. He will likely be a top receiving option for fantasy managers in 2021.
Keenan Allen placed on the reserve list, will miss Week 17
Already dealing with a hamstring injury that caused him to miss Week 16, the Chargers will be without their star wide receiver in the final week. The team placed Keenan Allen on the reserve list ahead of their Week 17 game against the Chiefs.
Allen finishes the season only eight yards short of 1,000 yards on the season. He also recorded his second straight 100-catch campaign and his third in four seasons. Allen’s growing relationship with Justin Herbert and his consistent production should keep him at the top of draft boards going into the 2021 fantasy season.
Cooper Kupp placed on the reserve list, will miss Week 17
Jared Goff will be without his top receiving option in an impact game against the Cardinals in Week 17. Rams’ coach Sean McVay said this week that wide receiver Cooper Kupp will not be removed from the reserve list ahead of their Week 17 matchup against the Cardinals.
Goff and the Rams will have to rely on other receivers against a hungry Arizona defense. Kupp has been one of the most popular receivers in PPR leagues and has been a reliable option for Goff in crucial situations. Goff finishes his season just shy of 1,000 receiving yards and a career-low three touchdowns.
DeSean Jackson will not play in Week 17
Dealing with an ankle injury, the Eagles will not play DeSean Jackson in their Week 17 matchup against the Washington Football Team.
Jackson has battled through injuries all season and has only played in five contests this year. Once considered a popular receiving option for fantasy managers, it seems like Jackson can’t stay on the field enough to be a reliable player. Jackson scored his only touchdown on the season in Week 16 against the Cowboys on an 81-yard catch and run.
Terry McLaurin is questionable for Week 17
Terry McLaurin suffered a high ankle sprain that held him out of the Washington Football Team’s Week 16 contest against the Panthers. McLaurin is questionable in our Week 17 fantasy WR injury update. Nicki Jhabvala has reported that McLaurin is planning to play, however. This was confirmed by Ian Rapoport this morning.
Without McLaurin, Washington’s offense had tremendous struggles moving the ball through the air. The second-year wide receiver has been a catalyst for the Washington offense during his short career.
McLaurin broke 1,000 receiving yards on the season but only managed to score three touchdowns. Expect him to be a top receiving choice when fantasy drafts start back up for the 2021 season. Keep an eye on Washington’s evolving quarterback situation, which could sway things one way or another for McLaurin’s fantasy value next season.
