Fantasy TE Streamers and Rankings Week 14: Isaiah Likely and Chigoziem Okonkwo Headline TE Options

Fantasy football managers who rely on TE streamers are walking a fine line, but with only two teams on a bye and plenty of variance at the position, there are a few options that stick out above the rest!

Top TE Streamers for Week 14

Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans (at Dolphins)

We’ve learned throughout this season that counting on a rookie/inexperienced QB can be maddening, but at a position where I’m less sensitive to risk than I am at others, I’m more willing to embrace variance.

We know the athletic profile that sits with Okonkwo, so the fact that he has seen at least five targets in consecutive games for the first time this season is enough potential for me to roll the dice on.

You also can’t cite “game script” as a reason to worry about Derrick Henry and not use it as a positive when evaluating this passing game. The Titans get the Dolphins this week and the Texans in Weeks 15 and 17 — Tennessee is going to be forced into passing at a higher rate down the stretch of the season, and without a bona fide secondary pass catcher next to DeAndre Hopkins, Okonkwo could work his way into viable production when desperate fantasy managers need it most!

Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens (vs. Rams)

You hear “trust the process” a lot these days, and I’m tempted to do just that with Likely. After being a popular add in Week 12 following the Mark Andrews ankle injury, Likely was a volume drop this time last week.

I’m assuming it was mostly to do with the Week 13 bye than it was a four-catch, 40-yard effort against the Chargers. The performance wasn’t overwhelming, but a 20% target share isn’t a bad starting point, given the potency of this offense.

Two other notes that shouldn’t be overlooked. The first is straightforward: Todd Monken and Co. had the bye week to tweak their system to adjust to the strengths of Likely as opposed to Andrews. The second requires a little more reflection.

Likely posted an aDOT lower than one foot in Week 12. Not one yard. One foot. Some people will run from a number like that due to a lack of upside, but I’m running toward it. A role like that can elevate his value at a position where a viable floor is tough to find, but more importantly, it speaks to the desire to get him the ball in space.

This season, Evan Engram, Dalton Kincaid, and Jake Ferguson are among the TEs with a sub-6.0 aDOT, all of whom offer weekly value. I’m not saying Likely will produce at a level comparable to those options, but I do think he is closer to them than he is to those his name is next to on your waiver wire.

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (vs. Texans)

If you’re trying to patchwork together the TE position, all you can ask for is opportunity. Conklin saw a season-high nine targets against the Falcons, and with a 78% catch rate entering Week 13, I think it’s safe to say his inefficient afternoon (three catches) is the outlier, not the norm.

The Jets play a trio of pass-first offenses over the next three weeks (HOU, MIA, and WAS), a schedule that will likely force them to air the ball out more than they want to. Conklin isn’t a week winner, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have value. A. An elevated floor is very useful for strong teams who are just looking not to lose much ground at the position.
