Katz’s Fantasy TE Start/Sit: How Should You Handle Logan Thomas and Kyle Pitts?

It's incredibly important to make the correct lineup decisions in fantasy football. Here are our Week 15 start/sit picks for the TE position.

Making fantasy football lineup decisions can be incredibly frustrating or incredibly rewarding; it all depends on how often you get it correct. Here to help you make those decisions are our positional start ’em and sit ’em picks.

Fantasy decisions are more important than ever with our seasons on the line every week. So, let’s look at our Week 15 start/sit plays for the TE position.

Which TEs Should You Start in Fantasy This Week?

Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders (at LAR)

In Week 8, Logan Thomas faced a bottom-10 opponent against tight ends. He scored 16.4 fantasy points. Since then, the matchups have ranged from average to bad, and Thomas hasn’t topped 9.0 fantasy points.

When we last saw him, he commanded just a single target all game, and the only stat he recorded was a two-point conversion.

For the final time this season, Thomas now finds himself faced with a favorable matchup. The Los Angeles Rams allow the fourth-most PPG to tight ends, and 25.75% of their total receiving yards allowed go to the position.

I’m sure many of you dropped Thomas with his bye being last week. If you can pick him back up and start him, this is the week to do it.

Which TEs Should You Sit in Fantasy This Week?

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (vs. CAR)

The Falcons’ passing game has become surprisingly straightforward to predict.

Last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers forced the Falcons to throw on their pass-funnel defense. They did — and it worked, even though they lost the game.

This week, that won’t be the case against the aforementioned run-funnel defense of the Panthers. In addition to stifling wide receivers, they also stop tight ends, allowing the seventh-fewest PPG to the position.

Let’s not pretend like Kyle Pitts’ 14.7-point outing last week was impressive. He scored. Most tight ends will be TE1s when they score. Pitts still commanded just six targets, which is even more disappointing when you realize Desmond Ridder attempted 40 passes. Sit Pitts in a bad matchup this week.

Should You Start Logan Thomas or Hunter Henry

Hunter Henry has been one of the most easy-to-understand tight ends all season. If you start him, you are hoping for a touchdown.

Henry has posted at least 13.9 fantasy points in each of the four games in which he’s scored. He had one game with a respectable 9.1 fantasy points in which he didn’t score. In the rest of them, his best outing was 5.8 points.

Thomas certainly hasn’t been reliable, either. But he’s got a better role and a better matchup.

Henry gets the Chiefs this week, who allow the sixth-fewest PPG to tight ends. Thomas has a bottom-four team against the position.

The Start/Sit Optimizer has Thomas projected for 7.8 points and Henry at 7.4. I agree. Start Thomas.

Should You Start Kyle Pitts or Tyler Conklin

Let’s start with the Optimizer here because this is a rare situation where I do not agree with it. The Optimizer has Pitts projected for 7.8 points against 6.6 for Tyler Conklin. In my Week 15 rankings, I have Conklin one spot ahead of Pitts.

Pitts is not exactly a prolific touchdown scorer. However, he has scored touchdowns this season, which is not something Conklin can say. That is the main reason he’s been a better fantasy asset.

On the season, Conklin has two more receptions than Pitts but 43 fewer yards. If not for the 2-0 touchdown edge for Pitts, these two would be separated by less than 0.2 PPG.

Pitts has a bad matchup in a game where the Falcons should run, run, and run some more. Conklin has an average matchup in a game where the Jets are likely to fall behind and be forced to throw.

Conklin has seen 15 targets over his past two games. He had a respectable 4-33 line against the Dolphins when these teams met on Black Friday with Tim Boyle at quarterback. Start Conklin this week.
