Fantasy Football Rankings 2024: Top Options at Wide Receiver Include Justin Jefferson, Nico Collins, and Brandon Aiyuk

    Published on

Fantasy rankings are a matter of personal preference, but with extensive research, here is the framework for drafting wide receivers.

Fantasy football rankings look different for everyone. There are several moving pieces to consider on the player evaluation side of things, not to mention your specific league setup (scoring format, roster construction, team count, etc.).

That said, I’m here to help you as best I can. I’d encourage you to use the below list as a guide — move your favorite options around and create tiers. By stepping back and evaluating the position as a whole, you allow yourself to be flexible when you’re on the clock.

Who Are the Best Wide Receivers To Draft in Fantasy?

    Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

The talent is second to none. Justin Jefferson is the standard for production through four NFL seasons, and he proved it again last year by finishing fourth at the position in yards per route run despite injuries to both him and Kirk Cousins.

That ranked him ahead of Lamb and St. Brown, who both had career seasons. That said, we are nitpicking at the top of the position, and it’s impossible to overlook the uncertainty under center.

Sam Darnold has never supported a receiver averaging even 14.5 PPR points per game for a season, which is why Jefferson has “fallen” to this point. That’s a valid concern, but it’s worth noting that Minnesota’s WR1 averaged more receptions per route without Cousins last season than with him and that he still cleared 2.0 PPR points per target in those situations (the 4.3% dip from his rate with Cousins isn’t enough to worry in a major way about).

In those games without Cousins, Jefferson saw his aDOT (average depth of target) swell, and that comes with some risk if you’re worried about the quality of opportunity. There’s a wider range of weekly outcomes for the best receiver in the game, but in the end, I expect the counting numbers to be impressive.

    Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs

Now that we are time to draft for real, Rice is a strong option. This is also a prime example of why you don’t draft too early.

A month ago, we all assumed that Kansas City’s WR1 would be suspended and were shying away from taking Rice anywhere near where his standout rookie campaign would suggest.

As it stands now, we have to assume that Rice is a full-go for this season. In doing so, he’s firmly in the WR1 conversation.

Last season, Rice became the fourth rookie wide receiver over the past 20 seasons to earn 9+ targets in five straight games. The others?

    • Amon-Ra St. Brown: WR10 in Year 2
    • Mike Evans: WR3 in Year 3
    • Brandon Aiyuk: WR12 in total FP from Years 2-3

Most criticize Rice’s reliance on short targets, but doesn’t that just ensure that he’ll be fed consistently by maybe the best quarterback who has ever picked up a football?

Top TD% seasons on short passes since Tyreek Hill left KC

    1. Patrick Mahomes (2022): 7.5%
    2. Patrick Mahomes (2023): 5.8%

Rice finished with 79 catches for 938 yards and seven scores as a rookie, a season in which he wasn’t unleashed until November. The ceiling is higher than your leaguemates want to acknowledge, and I want you to be in position to capitalize on that.
