Who Are the Best Running Backs To Draft In Fantasy?
Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry is going to be a very polarizing player this season. For the past half-decade, he was anything but. Henry is as reliable as they come — a sure thing.
Now, Henry is on a new team. He’s 30 years old and not as efficient as he used to be. There’s no hope for any receiving upside playing alongside Lamar Jackson. Yet, Henry is somehow undervalued.

On sportsbooks, Henry’s rushing yardage line is around 1,000 yards. He’s projected for around 10 touchdowns. Every running back carries injury risk, but if Henry stays healthy, it’s hard to see how he doesn’t push 1,500 yards and 15+ touchdowns.
We’ve seen Henry get to 18+ ppg without much in the way of receiving work. He can do it on rushing volume and touchdowns alone. This is the best offensive situation he’s ever been in. It’s certainly scary to spend a second-round pick on a 30-year-old running back, but The King is worth it.
De’Von Achane
There is no player more difficult to figure out at running back than De’Von Achane.
Volume is king in fantasy football, and that is most true at the RB position. We’ve seen plenty of replacement-level players produce for fantasy based on opportunity alone.
Based on that, there’s justified trepidation on Achane. After all, the volume is not going to be there. We are not going to see Achane as a 250-touch back.
On the other hand, we have a sophomore running back coming off the most efficient season in the history of the position. We want to bet on talent, and if there is an archetype of running back with the potential to break fantasy football, it’s Achane.
Achane averaged 17.3 fantasy points per game on 11.8 touches per game. It’s difficult to envision him repeating his league-leading 7.7 yards per touch. If that number comes down, but the volume doesn’t go up, he will have a difficult time living up to his ADP.
With that said, Achane is clearly a tremendous talent. What if he does touch the ball more because he’s sharing a backfield with a 32-year-old veteran?
What if Achane is Jamaal Charles? We will be kicking ourselves for dismissing that type of player. These are just things to keep in mind when deciding whether to push the button on Achane in 2024 fantasy drafts.
