It’s a new year. Relying on 2023 alone when creating your fantasy football rankings for 2024 is dangerous, as much has changed across the landscape. Here is my early look at the quarterback position and how I see the players stacking up for the upcoming season.

Who Are the Best Quarterbacks To Draft in Fantasy?
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
In 2020, Murray threw for nearly 4,000 yards while also punching in 11 scores on the ground. Supporting him that season was a wide receiver with first-round draft capital in his first season with the Cardinals.
Sound familiar?
For his career, Murray averages 41 opportunities (pass or rush attempts) per game, a level that grades out well. With his explosive-play potential, a number like that is enough to land him in the top 10 any given week. If his group of pass catchers is as good as we think, the top 10 will be a low bar for him to achieve.
We are well aware of the upside athleticism provides at the quarterback position, and Murray is the rare chance to get such a profile without the ADP helium that a player like Anthony Richardson has.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
From the start of 2021 through the end of 2022, Burrow was a top-five signal-caller in completions, completion percentage, passing yards, passing touchdowns, touchdown rate, yards per deep pass, and passer rating when pressured. In other words, he was as good as it got in just about every category known to mankind and was entering his age-26 season with a pair of dynamic receivers by his side.
The process of buying him entering 2023 was sound, but health got in the way. It happens from time to time, and it happened to plenty of quarterbacks last season. But as long as he has a clean bill of health when your draft day comes around, why not trust him to lead your team as a sixth-round pick?

The body of work last season when Burrow was on the field was a bit underwhelming by his lofty standards, but I used the words “on the field” for a reason. He’s no Michael Vick, but a preseason calf injury certainly sapped him of some of his superpowers, and the metrics bear that out.
- Career low aDOT
- Career low in yards per completion when pressured
- Career low passer rating when throwing to the sidelines
Those aren’t things that normally happen to an ascending talent who is working with a strong supporting cast.
Even with the limitations, did you know that Burrow had five straight games with at least 24 completions and multiple passing scores (the first player to do that since Matt Ryan did it in the first half of the 2021 season)?
If Burrow is capable of things like that in a down season with his health compromised, who are we to doubt him in 2024?
