Arguably the most important position in fantasy football, deciding on which quarterback to plug into your lineup in Week 9 might be tough. The bigger names are going to be available, but some of the deeper streaming options will be on a bye. While the start ’em sit ’em questions will remain, our fantasy QB rankings for this week should help answer some of your questions. Which fantasy football quarterback is sitting at the top of our list, and who are some of the sleepers, mist-starts, and busts in Week 9?
What to keep in mind heading into Week 9 and searching for the best fantasy football quarterback
Make sure to check out PFN’s fantasy bye week schedule to keep up to date on who you will need to replace in your lineups. For Week 9, the four teams that are on a bye are the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Bengals. At first glance, that doesn’t seem to be too bad. However, there are some key depth players that have been performing well in fantasy this season that will be out this week.
While they may have been considered sleepers before their breakout performances, we will still be without guys like Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, Joe Burrow, and Carson Wentz. Of that list, Burrow might be the one that hurts fantasy players the most. In his last two games, Burrow has 455 passing yards and five touchdowns with just one interception.

There are also some other big names that we are monitoring to see if they will be out due to injury. So far, we know that Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), Andy Dalton, and Gardner Minshew (thumb) will not play this week. However, Sam Darnold will be looking to play against the New England Patriots if he is healthy enough. The Cowboys could also be starting either Ben DiNucci or Cooper Rush to try and get their offense going.
Some of the more popular QBs like Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers will be facing tough matchups against the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers defenses, respectively. While they are pretty much must-starts on a weekly basis, there could be some guys on your roster that will perform better this week.
These rankings should help cover all the sleepers you should be targeting to help win your week, as well as the must-starts and potential busts you should avoid.

Please keep in mind that these rankings are for standard 1QB leagues. They are not for Superflex leagues. However, that shouldn’t change anything when looking at who you should be starting.
Note: Check back throughout the week, as we’ll continue to update our QB rankings up until kickoff based on the injuries, news updates, and the potential impact of the NFL trade deadline.
