    Injury Updates for Starting QBs

    Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

Rookie sensation Richardson went down on Sunday to a shoulder injury, and it was the third time in five weeks that he has had to leave a game due to injury. He left the game with 98 yards passing, and backup Gardner Minshew took over under center and led the team to a victory over Tennessee.

On Monday, it was reported that Richardson suffered an AC joint injury that was a Grade 3 sprain. If this is true, he could miss 4-6 weeks, but he is getting a second opinion after the first MRI. Head coach Shane Steichen did not elaborate any further on Richardson, saying only he will miss “some time.”

Editor’s Note: Richardson has now been placed on injured reserve by the Indianapolis Colts and will miss at least the next four games.

Minshew has already been announced to be the starter in Week 6 against Jacksonville, and he has been solid for the Colts so far. This season, he’s posted a 68.7% completion rate, 553 yards passing, and two TDs.

He is a required pickup in two-QB leagues and can be considered a bye-week fill-in in single-QB formats.

    Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

To add injury to insult, Prescott sustained a finger injury in the Sunday night massacre they played against the San Francisco 49ers. After the game, Prescott revealed that someone stepped on his finger, which was why he was seen getting it taped up on the sideline in the second half.

He finished the game 14 of 24 for 153 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. With little information released about his finger, it is hard to say if it will be an issue moving forward.

Prescott said his finger was not the cause of his bad performance on Sunday, and to be fair, he wasn’t playing great before he bandaged his finger. Keep an eye on the injury reports this week, but if Prescott plays, you can start him against the Chargers on Monday night.

    Daniel Jones, New York Giants

The New York Giants’ luck is going from bad to worse. Jones left the game on Sunday in the fourth quarter with a neck injury. He did not return and finished the game with 119 yards passing. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor finished under center, and the Giants lost to Miami.

Jones had X-rays done at the stadium and will have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. He told the press he was sore, but head coach Brian Daboll said on Monday he was “optimistic” that Jones would be able to play in Week 6.

Even though Taylor went down after having the wind knocked out of him later in the game, he would be the starter if Jones can’t play.
