The TE position remains the weakest in fantasy football. That makes trading for tight ends exceedingly difficult. Unraveling all that we saw in Week 8 and translating it into Week 9 TE trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves.
To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some tight ends to buy low or sell high entering Week 9.
Which TEs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?
Katz’s Other Week 9 Trade Targets: WR | QB | RB
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
It appears as though DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert cannot coexist. Only one can succeed. This week, it was Smith. But Goederts’s role is still very good.
Goedert has seen 29 targets over his last four games. After a slow start, he’s picked it up over that span but still hasn’t put together consecutive big games. Goedert is not some elite TE1, but he’s better than a streamer and worth trading for if you can get him below value.
Which TEs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Pitts is just a weekly staple on this list because it’s really hard to classify any tight end as a sell high. Travis Kelce is never a sell, and no other tight end is technically “high.”
Once again, Pitts proved that his two weeks of 15.7 and 14.3 fantasy points were flukes. They were the exception, not the rule. Since then, Pitts has gone back to his regularly scheduled programming, with 3-47 and 3-35 lines.
At this point, all Pitts has is his name. If he wasn’t Kyle Pitts, he would be on the waiver wire, not 94% rostered. Clearly, there are managers still valuing Pitts as if some sort of upside exists. It does not. If one of them is in your league, sell Pitts for literally anything and stream his production.

Should You Trade Dalton Kincaid for Dallas Goedert?
This is a really tough one. We only have a one-week sample of Dalton Kincaid as the Bills clear TE1, but it was a really good effort. Kincaid caught five of seven targets for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Goedert has been around for a while. He is a known commodity. He also only has two games with double-digit fantasy points.
At the same time, Goedert is in the elite offense, playing with Jalen Hurts. But that comes with its own struggles, most notably A.J. Brown dominating targets.
At worst, Kincaid should be the third option in the Bills passing game behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. At best, he could be second because Davis is very erratic. Goedert has no prayer of surpassing Brown or Smith.
There is a very real chance Kincaid is a better fantasy asset going forward. However, he is still a rookie. I trust Goedert more. If you could trade Kincaid for Goedert, I would do that.
Should You Trade Kyle Pitts for Taysom Hill?
One of these guys is featured in this week’s waiver wire column. One of these guys is featured in this week’s cut list. I’d love to leave it there and let you figure out who is who, but you already know.
Somehow, Kyle Pitts is rostered in 94% of fantasy leagues. Why? What has he done to warrant that? You know who has been better than Pitts this season? Taysom Hill.
Hill provides an actual weekly ceiling. Touchdowns are largely random in football but less so for a guy like Hill with a defined goal-line role.
Hill has now posted games of 12.26, 16.8, and 22.46 over his last three. Those are numbers Pitts can only dream of. Pitts has cracked double-digits just twice all season. This one is not close to me. Give me Hill.
