TE Streamers for Week 9
If you didn’t draft Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, or T.J. Hockenson, you’re likely looking for streaming options at the position. Here are a few matchups worth considering putting in your lineup.
Albert Okwuegbunam, Denver Broncos (12% rostered)
Typically, the second TE on his own roster isn’t worth much consideration in fantasy football, but when the starter (Noah Fant) is placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, things get a little more interesting.
That’s exactly the situation we’re looking at, with Fant being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday of this week.
The Denver Broncos will be playing the Dallas Cowboys this week, and there’s a good chance they’ll fall behind early against an explosive offense. “Albert O” is a 6’6″, 258-pound tight end with top-end athleticism. He ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine and has 212 receiving yards and 2 TDs on 22 receptions in his young career.
He’s a bit of a gamble in an offense that has plenty of mouths to feed, but Okwuegbunam is an intriguing streaming option — to say the least.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (37% rostered)
I love Pat Freiermuth. In most draft classes, he would have been this first tight end selected, but this class had someone by the name of Kyle Pitts go as the highest-drafted TE in NFL history. No big deal.
Freiermuth is talented in his own right, and he’s been producing early in his NFL career. Trusting a rookie tight end in fantasy typically isn’t advised, but this is no average rookie.

After catching all 7 targets for 58 yards in Week 6 before Pittsburgh’s bye, Freiermuth once again saw 7 targets in Week 8, catching 4 of them for 44 yards and a highlight-reel TD catch. In fact, in the Steelers’ Week 8 game, Freiermuth was second on the team in targets, proving that he’s carving out an important role in this offense.
Freiermuth is a high-end TE2 against the Chicago Bears this week and should be started with confidence.
Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings (33% rostered)
The Minnesota Vikings have an offense that runs through Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen, but TE Tyler Conklin is having a solid season as well. What’s been holding him back is a lack of touchdowns — he only has one.
In their last two games, Conklin has 12 targets, converting them into 8 receptions for 112 yards. He’s been seeing some work and has a good opportunity ahead of him this weekend.
The Vikings take on the Baltimore Ravens, who have been a solid defensive unit all year. The tight end position continues to give them issues, however — they’re allowing 10.7 fantasy points per game to the position, fifth-most in the NFL.
Conklin has a safe floor with his share of this offense, and if he’s able to break his touchdown cold streak, he could have a nice Week 9.
