Week 15 TE Streaming Options
Here are a few tight end options that could pay big dividends in the first round of the fantasy football playoffs.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
This is the last PSA that I’ll be issuing this week about Pat Freiermuth, who is somehow rostered in fewer leagues than Tyler Higbee. Make it make sense.
Freiermuth has scored 6 TDs in the last seven weeks and is the most reliable option the Steelers’ offense has in the red zone. He’s not going to get you huge yardage totals — the most yards he’s logged in a single game this year is 58 — but touchdowns go a long way for tight ends.
Since Week 10, Freiermuth is the overall TE5. He will square off with a Tennessee defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to the tight end position over the last four weeks.
That’s not an inspiring matchup, but I’m trusting Freiermuth to once again be a key part of this offense and score once again.
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
Remember last week’s Monday Night Football game where Buffalo and New England played in a blizzard, and Mac Jones won the game while only attempting 3 passes? Yeah, so do I. It was weird.
Toss it out of any and all fantasy football evaluations because that game was the biggest statistical outlier known to mankind.
Before that snow globe of a game, Hunter Henry was the TE8 on the season. He’d scored a touchdown in six out of the previous seven weeks (sound familiar? See above) and established himself as one of Jones’ favorite targets in the red zone.
The Patriots get the Colts on Saturday (yes, Saturday), who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position over the last four weeks, making this a great opportunity for him to get back to his TE1 ways.
Albert Okwuegbunam, Denver Broncos
Here’s a deep dive option for you if you’re desperate. Firstly, let’s have a pronunciation class on his name: Albert Okwuegbunam — that’s “OH-koo-way-BOO-naam.” Got it? Moving on.
Albert O isn’t replacing Noah Fant as the starting tight end anytime soon, but he’s doing a good job of carving out his own role in Denver’s offense. Last week, Okwuegbunam caught all 5 of his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown. He did so when Denver had their full cast of characters on the field. It’s an impressive sign from the young TE.
His Week 14 performance gives him 9 targets in the last two weeks. In Week 15, Okwuegbunam matches up with the Cincinnati Bengals, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends in the last four weeks. With the numerous injuries and COVID cases popping up around the league, you might be looking for a dart throw fill-in. Albert O is exactly that.
