Did you have Baker Mayfield, Alvin Kamara, or Chris Godwin as the No. 1 overall fantasy football producers at their respective positions through the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season? No one else did either, but they do move up the rankings considerably entering this week because of their outstanding performances.

Here is a closer look at my top 100 rankings for Week 3 of the fantasy football season.

The Top Players To Start in Week 3

Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders

Let’s start by taking a look back at how we arrived at another top-three fantasy performance through the first two weeks of Brock Bowers’ NFL career, shall we?

In case you need a refresher, here is a look at Bowers’ usage in his first NFL game and where those usage numbers ranked among his tight end peers.

Bowers’ Week 1 Stats (Positional Rank):

    • Routes: 31 (seventh)
    • Receptions: six (second)
    • Yards: 58 (second)
    • Targets: eight (third)
    • Yards per Route Run: 1.87 (third among TEs with 20+ routes run)
    • Fantasy Finish: TE3 overall in full-PPR formats

Now, let’s take a look at those same numbers and see where he ranks among the position strictly for his Week 2 performance against a stingy Baltimore Ravens defense.

Bowers’ Week 2 Stats (Positional Rank):

    • Routes: 28 (ninth)
    • Receptions: nine (first)
    • Yards: 98 (second)
    • Targets: nine (T-second)
    • Yards per Route Run: 3.50 (third among TEs with 20+ routes run)
    • Fantasy Finish: TE3 overall in full-PPR formats

    See a pattern here?

After Bowers saw more snaps, routes, and targets than Michael Mayer in Week 1, that exact same trend continued in Week 2.

Bowers managed to do some of this damage against one of the best safeties in the league in Derwin James Jr. in his pro debut and arguably the best safety in the league in Kyle Hamilton in Week 2.

Bowers is the real deal and is a strong contender to finish his rookie year as the TE1 overall in fantasy football.

    De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

The potential loss of Tua Tagovailoa under center should cause some concern about the overall production of this Miami Dolphins offense, but I could see a world where De’Von Achane is leaned on heavily with Skylar Thompson under center in Week 3.

Achane saw a career-high 29 total touches (22 carries and seven receptions) in Week 2, which makes him the likely candidate to be the featured player in this offense if Tagovailoa is unavailable for the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this week.

What is just as encouraging is Achane’s production and involvement in the passing game through the first two games with a minimum of seven receptions for 69 yards in both contests.

The Seattle defense allowed the Patriots’ offense to run for 185 yards in Week 2, which could be the formula for the Dolphins managing to steal a win on the road with a backup quarterback under center.

Last week we saw what a gifted offensive-minded coach could do with a backup quarterback in Green Bay, which was to lean on a leading back in Josh Jacobs to the tune of 32 rushes for 151 yards in a winning effort against the Indianapolis Colts.

If Raheem Mostert is out again this week, then expect Achane to see another busy day at the office in Week 3.
