Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers | Quarterbacks

Derek Carr | New Orleans Saints @ IND

One could certainly make an argument that Derek Carr isn’t playing good football right now, but he has thrown the ball 105 times for 654 yards over the last two games.

He has posted two straight games with 18+ fantasy points despite leaving some big plays out on the field.

Need proof? Since Alvin Kamara returned to the lineup in Week 4, Carr is 31st in the league with 3.1 air yards per attempt. Translation: Carr is checking the ball down… a lot.

While that isn’t great news for Chris Olave of Rashid Shaheed, Carr is still a fringe QB1 option this week against the Indianapolis Colts.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers | Running Backs

Kareem Hunt | Cleveland Browns @ SEA

The efficiency hasn’t been very exciting, but Kareem Hunt has managed to find the end zone in two straight games.

Hunt has three TDs over the last two weeks, but he still finished with fewer carries and rushing yards than Jerome Ford in both of those games.

Unfortunately for the Browns, Ford suffered an ankle injury which could cost him some time in the coming weeks, which means Hunt should see an expanded role against the Seattle Seahawks.

AJ Dillon | Green Bay Packers vs. MIN

Many fantasy managers had high hopes for Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones against the Denver Broncos last week.

Well, it was AJ Dillon who had a decent fantasy outing against the Broncos, leading the team in carries (15), rushing yards (61), and receiving yards (34).

If Dillon maintains this type of usage in the backfield, he is in Flex consideration for your fantasy lineup in Week 8.

Emari Demercado | Arizona Cardinals vs. BAL

It would be generous of the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff to make up their mind on who their RB1 without James Conner in the lineup.

Just one week after seeing just two carries against the Los Angeles Rams, Emari Demercado dominated the work out of the backfield in Week 7 with 17 total touches for 75 yards.

While the Baltimore Ravens’ defense is a formidable unit, Demercado’s volume and skills as a pass catcher could make him a viable starting option in deeper leagues.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers | Wide Receivers

Josh Downs | Indianapolis Colts vs. NO

The odds of Josh Downs finding himself on the sleepers article for much longer isn’t very likely if he continues to play like he did in Week 7.

Downs posted a career-high 125 yards on five receptions against a stingy Cleveland Browns defense.

The Saints are not an easy matchup either, but Downs has clearly carved out a reliable role in this passing game, which gives him a viable weekly floor in PPR formats that firmly puts him in the WR3 conversation moving forward.

Gabe Davis | Buffalo Bills vs. TB

The Gabe Davis fantasy experience has been a volatile ride in 2023.

After scoring a touchdown in four straight games, Davis has produced just four receptions for 27 yards over the last two games combined.

While Davis continues to be boom-or-bust, he should have a chance to post a big game against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary that has given up a handful of big fantasy performances to opposing WRs this season.

Kendrick Bourne | New England Patriots @ MIA

The New England Patriots’ passing offense has shown signs of life over the past two weeks.

To be a bit more specific, we have seen plenty of encouraging signs from WR Kendrick Bourne, who has seen 18 targets and caught 16 passes for 152 yards and a score over the last two games.

If the Miami Dolphins’ offense can continue to generate points, it could force the Pats to continue to throw the ball, which could equal another busy day at the office for Bourne in Week 8.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Sleepers | Tight Ends

Logan Thomas | Washington Commanders vs. PHI

The Washington Commanders have been throwing the ball a lot over the last four weeks.

Need proof? Quarterback Sam Howell has thrown the ball 40+ times three out of the last four weeks.

During that same span, Logan Thomas has caught 17 passes on 21 targets and a score.

If the Commanders’ defense struggles against the Philadelphia offense for a second time this season, expect Howell to look for Thomas throughout this contest.
