Saturday’s Fantasy RB Injury Report Week 17: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Austin Ekeler, Cam Akers, and more injury updates

As we begin to set our fantasy football lineups for championship week, let's look around the league at the fantasy RB injury report update.

It’s fantasy football championship week, and the health status of fantasy-viable running backs is a massive topic of discussion. Let’s look around the league at the fantasy RB injury report update.

Week 17 Fantasy Football RB Injury Report | AFC

The AFC has had a good deal of running back injuries this year, but the conference is in pretty good shape heading into Week 17.

    Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs

Update 01/01/2022: The Kansas City Chiefs have officially ruled out Clyde Edwards-Helaire for their matchup against the Bengals.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is currently dealing with a shoulder injury and is considered week-to-week. He wasn’t able to practice at all this week.

While the Chiefs haven’t ruled CEH out, it doesn’t look likely that he’ll play. If he can’t go, Darrel Williams is locked in as a high-end RB2 to low-end RB1.

    Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers

After missing last week while on the COVID-19 list, Austin Ekeler will return to lineups for the fantasy football championships this week. Ekeler should resume his typical RB1 usage against the Broncos.

    Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns

Coming off an ankle injury that sidelined him last week, Kareem Hunt was a limited participant on Friday. Because the Browns are playing on Monday Night Football in Week 17, we’ll learn more about Hunt’s status after Cleveland’s Saturday practice. It seems like he plays in Week 17.

    Damien Harris, New England Patriots

Damien Harris is technically listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. However, there are no indications he’s at risk of missing this week’s game. Harris practiced in some capacity all week and is in line to play.

Week 17 Fantasy Football RB Injury Report | NFC

Which NFC running backs are dealing with injuries as we enter fantasy championship week?

Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams

After an exciting week of rumors and speculation, Cam Akers is not expected to make his return from his Achilles injury on Sunday.

Darrell Henderson has already been placed on IR, meaning Sony Michel looks to be locked into a lead-back role for championship week.

    Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers

After missing the last three games, Elijah Mitchell returned to practice this week and is trending towards playing. If he goes, he will look to resume the workhorse role that he earned throughout the season. Mitchell would be an RB2 play in his first game back.

Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have ruled Miles Sanders out for Week 17 with a hand injury. Meanwhile, Jordan Howard is questionable. Howard was able to practice in a limited capacity twice this week, giving him a good chance to play and lead Philadelphia’s backfield on Sunday.

    James Conner, Arizona Cardinals

Because head coach Kliff Kingsbury is apparently infatuated with using the “game-time decision” label, he’s placing it on James Conner for Week 17. If Conner cannot play, Chase Edmonds will have high-end upside this week.
