Fantasy Injury Report: Justin Fields, Alvin Kamara, CeeDee Lamb injury updates

Heading into Week 12, what players are likely to appear on injury reports, and how do those updates impact fantasy football lineups?

While rankings and projections are beneficial, few things are more important in fantasy football than following injury updates. Injuries not only impact the player in question but the teammates and the offenses around them. Here’s an update on some critical injury reports to watch and their fantasy football impact.

Update 11/26/2021: For the most recent injury news, make sure to check out our up-to-date Week 12 Fantasy Injury Report.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update

Let’s go through the injuries currently impacting quarterbacks. Monitor these situations throughout the week and have contingency plans, if necessary.

    Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Andy Dalton replaced Justin Fields in the Bears’ loss to the Ravens last week. Fields was forced out of the game with a rib injury. With the Bears on a short week, it’s likely Dalton starts on Thanksgiving against the Lions.

    Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

Jared Goff was listed as limited on Monday’s estimated practice report. Prior to last week’s game, there was pessimism surrounding Goff being able to recover from his oblique injury enough to play on Thanksgiving. After Tim Boyle’s display in Week 11, perhaps the Lions are more compelled to push Goff to return.

    Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

Baker Mayfield continues to play through multiple injuries. He is banged up every week. He will be limited at practice this week but said he expects to feel much better this week than he has in previous weeks. Mayfield will start in Week 12.

    Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

According to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, Aaron Rodgers’ toe injury is quite problematic. He is going to miss a lot of practice time the rest of the season.

Fortunately, he’s going to continue to play through it. Just don’t be surprised when he’s not practicing on Wednesday and most Thursdays for the rest of the year.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: RB update

Which running backs are dealing with injuries that may affect their game status? Let’s see which RB committees are hobbled heading into Week 12.

    Michael Carter, New York Jets

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Michael Carter suffered a low-grade high ankle sprain and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. He should get his job back upon his return. Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson will form an uninspiring committee in his absence.

    Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles

Jordan Howard injured his knee in the Eagles’ win over the Saints. If Howard can’t play, Kenneth Gainwell will once again be active. Boston Scott would be the RB2 behind Miles Sanders.

    Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara did not practice Monday. He’s not going to play Thursday, but I think he has a good shot at returning in Week 13.

    WR Injury Update

How are the fantasy-relevant wide receivers dealing with injuries? Let’s see which pass catchers may require a Plan B for Week 12’s action.

    A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans

A.J. Brown left Sunday’s game after taking a big shot to the chest. He had X-rays on his ribs, which came back negative. We’ll see how he progresses through the week, but it sounds like Brown has a chance to play this week.

    Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

After missing last week’s game with a hamstring strain, Allen Robinson opened this week by not practicing. He is not trending in the right direction for Thanksgiving.

Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are almost certain to be down their top two wide receivers on Thanksgiving. Amari Cooper cannot return until Week 12 due to the mandatory 10-day quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test for unvaccinated players.

CeeDee Lamb sustained a concussion at the end of the first half of the Cowboys’ loss to the Chiefs. Players have been able to clear the protocol by Thursday in the past, but it’s exceedingly rare. Cowboys executive Stephen Jones believes Lamb will be ready to play, but he’s not a neurologist. Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson will be Dallas’ starting receivers if Lamb cannot play.

    Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns

The second knee injury Jarvis Landry sustained in his first game back from his sprained MCL continues to be an issue. Landry aggravated it again last week but plans to continue playing through it.

    TE Injury Update

Are there any tight end injuries we need to be concerned about? The TE market is already thin, so if you have a TE on this injury report, your alternatives will be grim in all likelihood.

    Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team

The Football Team expects Logan Thomas to formally return to practice this week. He’s been on the injured reserve since straining his hamstring in Week 4. This will start Thomas’ three-week clock to be activated. There is a chance he will return this week.
