Thursday’s Fantasy Injury Report: Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Elijah Moore injury updates

Heading into Week 14, which players are likely to appear on injury reports, and how do those updates impact fantasy football lineups?

Fantasy Football Injury Report: WR update

How are the fantasy-relevant wide receivers dealing with injuries? Let’s see which pass catchers may require a Plan B for Week 14’s action.

Davante Adams and Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers

Davante Adams was limited at Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring issue. It’s a new injury for Adams, but the limited tag suggests he’s not at risk of missing this week’s game. Randall Cobb did not practice due to a core issue.

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers

NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti reported that Keenan Allen is vaccinated. That’s great news, as it gives Allen an outside shot at being able to play in this week’s game. Last week, T.J. Watt tested positive on Monday and was able to record negative tests on Friday and Saturday before playing Sunday. It’s possible Allen can do the same.

Mike Williams was also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as a close contact of Allen. According to Mike Garofalo of NFL Network, the quarantine period begins from the date of the last contact. Allen tested positive on Monday, which is the last time Williams could have had any contact with him. Even if the five-day quarantine begins on Tuesday, Williams would be clear to play on Sunday as long as he registers negative tests.

Head coach Brandon Staley said Williams is not ruled out just yet. In fact, he said Williams could be activated as early as Friday, which is a bit surprising, but certainly positive news. As long as Williams does not test positive between now and Sunday, he will play. If Allen and Williams can’t play, Jalen Guyton and Josh Palmer would be the Chargers’ top two wide receivers.

    Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers

Chase Claypool (toe) got in full practices Tuesday and Wednesday. He is not listed on the final injury report and will play Thursday.

    Corey Davis, New York Jets

Corey Davis is done for the season with a core muscle injury. This will be the last update on Davis this year.

    Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

Tee Higgins tweaked his ankle late in the Bengals’ loss to the Chargers. He finished the game but was noticeably hobbled after every play. Higgins missed practice Wednesday. Hopefully, he gets in at least a limited session on Thursday to assuage any fears about him missing Sunday’s contest.

    Julio Jones, Tennessee Titans

Julio Jones returned to practice Wednesday. He’d been on injured reserve with a recurring hamstring strain. The Titans started the clock on Jones’ return, but it looks like they won’t need all three weeks. I tentatively expect Jones to play this week.

    Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns

Jarvis Landry did not practice Wednesday. This has been his weekly routine since returning from IR. It is just the team protecting his knee, and Landry is fine. He will return to practice Thursday and play Sunday.

    D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

D.K. Metcalf did not practice Wednesday due to his ongoing foot issue. The Seahawks have been managing his practice reps for several weeks now. If the routine stands, he’ll get in a full practice Thursday and be limited Friday, but won’t carry an injury designation. I fully expect Metcalf to play.

    Elijah Moore, New York Jets

The Jets just lost Corey Davis for the season, and now their stud rookie is in jeopardy for this week’s game as well. Elijah Moore popped up on Wednesday’s injury report with a quad issue. Head coach Robert Saleh described him as day-to-day. Saleh remains hopeful Moore can play this week, but I’ve found “hopeful” to be less optimistic than the word appears.

The Jets activated Keelan Cole off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Normally, I wouldn’t bother including Cole in the injury report. Still, with Davis done and Moore potentially out, Cole could potentially start in two-receiver sets along with Jamison Crowder this week.

    Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

Allen Robinson returned to a limited practice on Wednesday. This is a great sign for his availability this week as he works his way back from a hamstring strain.

    Curtis Samuel, Washington Football Team

Curtis Samuel’s groin has successfully made it through two full football games. He was limited at Wednesday’s practice but remains on track to play again this week. We’ll see if the Football Team ramps up Samuel’s involvement in the offense as he gets healthier.

    Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel remained absent from practice Wednesday. He is dealing with a strained groin. This does not bode well for his chances of returning after just a one-game absence. However, if Samuel can get in a limited session Thursday or Friday, he would have a chance to suit up. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he is hopeful Samuel can practice on Thursday.

Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney were listed as DNPs on Wednesday’s estimated practice report. Golladay is dealing with a rib injury. Toney has been out with a quad issue, but Wednesday’s injury report listed his ailment as an oblique. Sterling Shepard was listed as limited as he works his way back from a quad injury of his own.

Here is where I stand on the Giants wide receivers as of today: Toney is almost certainly not going to play. Golladay seems doubtful. Shepard has the best shot at playing, but he’s gotten in three limited practices before and still not played.

    Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings

Adam Thielen is out Thursday night due to a high-ankle sprain. The good news is the Vikings did not place him on injured reserve, meaning they think there’s a chance he can return within the next three weeks. K.J. Osborn will start in two-receiver sets going forward.

    Cedrick Wilson, Dallas Cowboys

With CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup all healthy, which has been rare this season, Cedrick Wilson will go back to a seldom-used WR4. It’s still worth noting he got in a limited session at Wednesday’s practice after missing last Thursday’s game with an ankle issue.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: TE update

Are there any tight end injuries we need to be concerned about? The TE market is already thin, so your alternatives will likely be grim if you have a player on this injury report.

    T.J. Hockenson, Detroit Lions

T.J. Hockenson was limited at Wednesday’s practice with a hand injury. He’s not at any risk of missing Sunday’s game.

Logan Thomas and Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington Football Team

While it’s great that Logan Thomas avoided tearing multiple ligaments in his knee, he still sustained a serious injury. On Wednesday, Washington put Thomas on injured reserve. He is done for the season. Ricky Seals-Jones will start if he can return from his hip injury this week. He got in a limited practice Wednesday. Otherwise, it will be rookie John Bates.

    Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders

Darren Waller did not return to practice Wednesday after missing last week’s game with his IT band injury. The good news is interim head coach Rich Bisaccia described Waller as day-to-day, which is at least an improvement upon his week-to-week designation last week. Nevertheless, the Wednesday DNP is an ominous start to the week. It sounds like Waller has a shot at returning in Week 15, but I expect another week of Foster Moreau in Week 14.
