Fantasy Football Cut List Week 13: Cam Akers, Devin Duvernay, and Curtis Samuel Can Go

After an exciting Week 12 from several fantasy players, which ones are on the fantasy football cut list that managers should remove from their Week 13 rosters?

Roster management is the single most crucial in-season task for fantasy football managers. Just as important as adding the right guys is knowing when players need to go. Which players find themselves on our Week 13 fantasy football cut list?

Note: All roster percentages are from Yahoo.

Who Should You Cut in Fantasy Football in Week 13?

Russell Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos (61% Rostered)

I must admit: I’m exasperated talking about Russell Wilson at this point. I’ve run out of adjectives to describe his lack of quarterbacking ability.

Wilson completed 19 of 35 passes for a season-low 142 yards against the Carolina Panthers last week. He threw just a single touchdown, bringing his season total to a whopping eight.

Wilson remains the best quarterback on the Broncos, but I firmly believe there are 32 quarterbacks in the NFL more capable of playing the position than Wilson. He is as cooked as a well-done steak. There is no matchup and no set of circumstances that would make Wilson an appealing start. It’s long past time to drop him.

Cam Akers, RB, Los Angeles Rams (55% Rostered)

If you read my defensive streamers article, you know how I feel about the Rams’ offense. I expect there won’t be a single Ram rostered in more than 50% of Yahoo leagues by the end of the season. Cam Akers remains there. Time to change that.

Akers has one touchdown on the season. It came back in Week 3. Not so coincidentally, that is the only game in which he reached double-digit fantasy points. In fact, if you add together his point totals from any two games since then, you won’t get to 10.

Even with Darrell Henderson cut, Akers did not take on a larger role. He played just 16 snaps, 22 fewer than rookie Kyren Williams. Akers carried the ball eight times for 37 yards, ran just five routes, and did not see a target. With the Rams packing it in for the season, you don’t need their backup running back.

Devin Duvernay, WR, Baltimore Ravens (54% Rostered)

The Ravens’ passing game is basically Mark Andrews and then an assortment of randomness. Devin Duvernay caught three passes against the Jaguars, which was one more than he caught in his previous two games combined.

Duvernay was hot to start the season, but his production was always going to be unsustainable, as it was bolstered by touchdowns. After scoring three times in the first three weeks, Duvernay has just one touchdown since. Over his past six games, he has five outings with fewer than seven PPR fantasy points.

No one in the Ravens’ passing attack matters besides Andrews. If you want to take a shot on the Ravens’ wide receiver du jour, I recommend doing it on Underdog Fantasy, not your seasonal fantasy roster. You can drop Duvernay.

Curtis Samuel, WR, Washington Commanders (74% Rostered)

I remember when Curtis Samuel popped in Week 1. I didn’t take him seriously. Then, he smashed in Week 2 and had a pretty good Week 3 as well. I regretted not going after him.

Since those first three weeks, Samuel has largely fallen back down to earth. He’s hit double-digit fantasy points four times but has reached 13+ fantasy points just once.

Over his past three games, Samuel has completely vanished. His snap share, yardage, and reception totals have declined in three straight contests. Last week, he didn’t see a single target on his 13 routes run. It’s over. You can cut him.
