Roster management is the single most crucial in-season task for fantasy football players. Just as important as adding the right players is knowing when players need to go. What players find themselves on our Week 9 fantasy football cut list?
Fantasy Week 9 Cut List | Quarterbacks
Let’s go position by position and pinpoint players that no longer need to be on your fantasy roster. What fantasy quarterbacks are on the Week 9 cut list?
Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints
Unfortunately, Jameis Winston tore his ACL last week and is done for the season. He can be safely cut from fantasy rosters.
Running Backs
The following fantasy running backs are on the Week 9 cut list. While not all of them are completely fantasy-irrelevant, they are all not worth holding on to.
Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts
To be perfectly honest, Nyheim Hines should’ve been cut weeks ago. This is Jonathan Taylor’s backfield now. Hines scored 6.4 PPR fantasy points last week, which was his highest total since Week 3 — by far. He’s just not part of the offense.
Ronald Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs are on a bye this week, which means Ronald Jones will reach Week 10 without a single game of double-digit fantasy points. In fact, if you remove Week 4 where he fell into the end zone, you can take any two of his games, add them together, and you still won’t get to 10. This is Leonard Fournette’s backfield. Jones can safely be dropped.
Kenneth Gainwell, Philadelphia Eagles
I had Kenneth Gainwell on here two weeks ago and was feeling foolish after Miles Sanders went down. Well, it turns out I was prescient as Gainwell’s role not only didn’t increase, it actually decreased.

Gainwell barely touched the ball until the fourth quarter and was firmly behind Boston Scott and Jordan Howard in the pecking order. You can release him.
David Johnson, Houston Texans
David Johnson said he anticipated more carries following Mark Ingram’s trade back to New Orleans. But Johnson carried the ball just twice in Week 8, tied for his season-low.
DJ is just not an important part of the Texans’ offense. At his advanced age, there’s nothing left here. He could still, in theory, be a useful receiver, but he’s not being targeted. Feel free to remove him from your roster.
Rashaad Penny, Seattle Seahawks
Anyone who grabbed Rashaad Penny following his return from IR was smart to do so. After two weeks, we now know there’s nothing here. Penny has amassed 16 yards on 13 carries.
The Seattle backfield is still being led by Alex Collins, but it’s somewhat of a four-man split with Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas as well. Penny has no fantasy value.

Which fantasy wide receivers are on the Week 9 cut list? A veteran and a rookie highlight the list this week.
Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
You can just pencil in Allen Robinson to appear on the cut list every week for the remainder of the season. His name will keep him on way too many rosters for the duration of the season, and his production will never warrant it.
ARob’s season-high in fantasy points remains 10.4 back in Week 2. Throw a dart on someone, anyone else this week, and get rid of Robinson.
Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals
Rondale Moore is going to be a useful fantasy asset one day. It just won’t be in 2021. Moore did play a season-high 61% of the snaps last week, but he’s just a gadget player. The Cardinals manufacture a couple of touches for him each week, and that’s it. His 24 receiving yards last week represent his highest total of the past three weeks.
Moore is behind DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, and Christian Kirk. The NFL is certainly more pass-heavy now than ever, but real-life WR4s will never have fantasy value. You can let Moore go.
Tight Ends
Most weeks, there are no tight ends worth including. Feel free to cut any fringe tight end for streaming purposes or if you need the roster spot. This week, there’s one tight end worth mentioning.
Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington Football Team
Ricky Seals-Jones was a nice fill-in tight end for the past month. He posted three useful fantasy outings. Last week, he caught just 2 of 4 targets for 12 yards. The Football Team is on bye this week, and Logan Thomas is expected to return in Week 10. You do not need to hang onto RSJ through the bye.
