It is time to start preparing for what is hopefully a championship matchup for you. If you are in the championship, then I get you not wanting to bring any players in.
However, if you want to spend significant FAAB this week, some guys are playing some great football right now that could potentially help you win it all. Let’s break down the top waiver wire options and who to add to help improve your fantasy football roster.
Week 17 Fantasy FAAB Picks and Advice
Baker Mayfield, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mayfield had put together a spectacular season that could get him a big payday in the offseason. However, his recent play may be enough to get a lot of fantasy managers a potential big payday with a championship win.
In his last two games, he has thrown for 664 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.1% of his passes. While Flacco has a tough matchup next week, Mayfield has a matchup that just got absolutely lit up by Matthew Stafford. If Mayfield is available in your league, I think he has another week next week that could help you win a fantasy championship.
FAAB Recommendation: 8%
Joe Flacco, QB, Cleveland Browns
Fool me once, shame on you. You know how the rest of the saying goes, but right now, Flacco is absolutely balling. He threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. He did throw two interceptions, but fantasy-wise, he is putting up big numbers.
This is his third consecutive game with at least 311 yards and two touchdowns. Up next is a tough matchup against a good pass defense in the New York Jets, but right now, Flacco is just playing really well.
FAAB Recommendation: 2%
The Best of the Rest: Nick Mullens (MIN), Jake Browning (CIN). 1% or below FAAB recommendation.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will be in action later this afternoon against the Las Vegas Raiders, but Edwards-Helaire’s stock improved on Sunday when Jerick McKinnon was put on the injured reserve.

He is the No. 2 running back for the Chiefs, and with Isiah Pacheco still coming back from injury, Edwards-Helaire should still be in position to get the ball. With games coming up against the No. 31 overall defense (Cincinnati) and No. 29 defense (Los Angeles Chargers), there could be opportunities for him to have a big game.
FAAB Recommendation: 3%
Kevin Harris, RB, New England Patriots
The second-year player showed some potential in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week, as he rushed the ball four times for 25 yards and a touchdown.
With the Patriots in an obvious rebuild, he could be in line for more work in these last two weeks. It is definitely two tough matchups against the Buffalo Bills and the Jets in the next two weeks, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts flirting with double-digit carries.
FAAB Recommendation: 2%
Tyjae Spears (TEN), Samaje Perine (DEN), Jeff Wilson Jr. (MIA), Ezekiel Elliott (NE); All below 5% FAAB recommendation.
Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Green Bay Packers
The Packers are still right in the thick of things in the playoff race, and Wicks has emerged as a solid receiving threat. Two weeks ago, he had six catches for 97 yards. Against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, he had two catches for 29 yards but was able to score a touchdown. It is unknown if Christian Watson will be back, but right now, Wicks has the potential to have a huge game.
FAAB Recommendation: 5%
Khalil Shakir, WR, Buffalo Bills
The Bills are winning, but they are doing it a little bit different. James Cook has become the focal point of the offense, and Stefon Diggs hasn’t done much in four of his last five games. Defenses are focusing more on him, and that could give Shakir more opportunities. He isn’t quite as boom or bust as Gabe Davis is, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Shakir has 15 PPR points in a game in the next two weeks.
FAAB Recommendation: 2%
The Best of the Rest: David Bell (CLE), Noah Brown (HOU), Jalin Hyatt (NYG), A.T. Perry (NO), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (KC); All below 5% FAAB recommendation.
Tucker Kraft, TE, Green Bay Packers
If Kraft is available in your league, sign him right now. The guy has become an important piece of the Packers’ offense. He has four catches in each of his last three games, with at least 60 yards. If he is able to get in the end zone, he has a chance to be a top 8-12 TE, which is good enough to be in your lineup in a championship matchup.
FAAB Recommendation: 5%
The Best of the Rest: Cade Otton (TB), Tyler Higbee (LAR), Juwan Johnson (NO), Tyler Conklin (NYJ); All below 5% FAAB recommendation.
