Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. A big decision by the 22-year-old to forego his remaining year of NCAA eligibility and make an announcement amid his recovery from elbow surgery.
Not many NFL teams would fancy an injured QB, but Beck’s winning streak and records have set a precedent for what teams can expect.
Fans Overjoyed After Carson Beck Declares for 2025 NFL Draft
Beck was suffering from an elbow injury, a torn UCL that he incurred during the Bulldogs’ SEC Championship Game win over the Texas Longhorns.
On the final play of the first half, Beck tore his UCL and was sidelined for a while just to return for the final drive, in which he handed the ball to running back Trevor Etienne for a game-winning touchdown.
On Saturday, Dec. 28, Beck made the announcement on Instagram that he would be taking his talents to the bigger stage. Soon, fans jumped to show their appreciation.
“Big move,” said one Georgia spectator.

I would still take him before I’d take Shedeur Sanders

“The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made,” Beck said in his statement.
“Thank you Dawg Nation for the time I’ve been here and to those who’ve supported and believed in me, thank you. It’s been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career,” he added.

Beck’s NFL Draft 2025 projection
The Georgia QB holds a 24-3 record as a starter after spending a significant amount of time behind Stetson Bennett when the Bulldogs won two national championships in 2021 and 2022.
This season, Beck recorded 3,485 passing yards in 13 total games and scored 28 touchdowns. His resilience was evident when he returned for the game-winning touchdown in the SEC Championship.
According to The Athletic’s report on NFL scouts’ analysis, Beck was a hot prospect entering the 2024 season, but slowly he took a backseat to players like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders as first-round picks.
Looking at the current scenario and his season-ending injury, Beck could be a second- or third-round pick if teams are willing to make a bet on his college career.
He is expected to return to throwing the football in spring 2025 and will continue to be part of the team when they take on Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
