‘Super Weird Behavior’ — NFL Fans Outraged Over Kansas City Chiefs’ Disrespectful Gesture Before End of Divisional Round Game

Many NFL fans on social media criticized the Kansas City Chiefs for releasing confetti before the end of the playoff game against the Texans.

The Kansas City Chiefs won 23-14 against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. The Texans are now 0-6 in franchise history when it comes to the Divisional Round games, and C.J. Stroud, for the second straight season, wasn’t able to will his team further in the playoffs.

The Chiefs benefited from some controversial calls from the referees, which upset many Texans fans on social media. Moreover, a Chiefs fan’s confession before the game even ended also irked many people.

Chiefs Fans Releasing Confetti Sparks Reactions on Social Media

Many people on X (formerly known as Twitter) expressed their concern with the confetti visible on the field with more than one minute left on the clock. Some considered it disrespectful and the situation ridiculous given that it was a playoff game.

    Here are the reactions:

“50 seconds left, and they’re releasing fu***ng confetti???? F*** THE CHIEFS. FOREVER,” said a fan.

Another fan added, “The Chiefs should get fined like a billion dollars for releasing confetti before the game clock hits zero, genuinely super fu***ng weird behavior.”

“And look at the disrespect by the Kansas City Chiefs by allowing the confetti to fly when it’s one minute still left in the game. This is when the Texans defense should start fighting,” another user said.

“The Chiefs shooting confetti before the game even officially ended is kinda ridiculous. It is all over the field,” said another fan.

With the win against the Texans, the Chiefs reached their seventh straight AFC Championship Game. The fans at Arrowhead Stadium are quite familiar with the feeling of winning in Divisional Round games, which is why they might not have wanted to wait until the end of the game.

Kansas City completely dominated Houston in the fourth quarter, and the game didn’t look close. However, it would have been better if the Chiefs fans waited till the game ended to do things that could impact the opposing players on the field.

C.J. Stroud Was Once Again Let Down by His O-Line

Stroud failed to build on an impressive rookie season, but he did play well in the game against the Chiefs. He completed 67.8% of his throws for 245 yards with a passer rating of 95.1 and had no turnovers while grading at 76.6 (C), according to PFN’s QB+ metric.

Unfortunately, as has been the story throughout the season, the Texans quarterback wasn’t helped by his offensive line. Stroud was sacked eight times and limped off the field late in the fourth quarter. He was sacked 63 times in 19 games this season, which is a big concern for the Texans.

Even without Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, the quarterback showed a fight against a top Chiefs defense; had his offensive line been a little better, the Texans could have pulled off an upset.

Houston’s main priority this upcoming offseason should be improving the offensive line. If these issues persist, Stroud could be at risk of injury, which would be devastating for a franchise that has one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.

This loss against Patrick Mahomes will be a great learning curve for the young Texans team, and they will hope to be in a better position to win such games next season.
