The Divisional Round matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles came right down the wire. With less than a minute left, the visiting team had a chance to record a touchdown and finish the game off. However, the Eagles had different ideas, fighting off their furious comeback.
Unfortunately, on the final play of Los Angeles’ drive, it appeared that there was a pass interference call that the refs blew. However, rather than take pity on the Rams, the entire sports world crashed down to laugh at their misery, given their past history.
Fans Find Vindication in Blown PI Call Against the Rams
During the 2019 NFC Championship Game, the Rams made it to the Super Bowl thanks to one of the most egregious missed calls in recent sports history. It was Nickell Robey-Coleman who got away with it on that particular occasion.
A hit on wideout Tommylee Lewis came far before the pass flew in, leading to an incompletion, and the New Orleans Saints had to settle for a field goal. More than half a decade later, karma came back to bite the Rams.
After a sack by Jalen Carter on 3rd-and-3, Los Angeles had to convert on fourth down. While Stafford laced it up to second-year receiver Puka Nacua, a blown PI call didn’t allow the wide receiver to reach the ball.
The pass was ruled incomplete, and the game was over. But for fans, it was poetic justice — some immediately began putting out memes about the situation.

They were also ready to call out any double standards. The incident from five years ago effectively gift-wrapped a Super Bowl appearance for Los Angeles, so fans weren’t ready to hear any excuses. “I know the Rams ain’t crying for a pass interference call in the playoffs?!”

Everyone taking joy in their misery wasn’t holding back on the memes as practically the entire NFL fandom descended on the storied franchise.

Of course, for fans of the team, the entire situation was unbelievable. They, too, took to social media to air their frustration and protest. “Where’s the PI, refs? Rams supposed to have 1st down with 4 shots to win it! Stop making your product so bad, @NFL. All pass interference calls should be reviewable in last 5 minutes of each half. They matter too much.”

But for the rest of the football world, there wasn’t a team alive who deserved this plight more than the Rams. “If there’s one franchise that doesn’t deserve any pass interference calls in the playoff it’s the Rams.”

It didn’t help that their season ended in such heartbreaking fashion as it is. But the blown call left a sour taste in the Rams’ fan base. “Pass Interference HARDCORE to end the game. How was that a no call? Definitely don’t show a replay either LMAO. Games are rigged and why NOBODY should be betting on sports.”

Imagine what a blown pass interference call in a Rams vs. Chiefs match would look like on Twitter.
