Fans Love Seeing Chiefs HC Andy Reid Immediately Switch to Grandpa Mode After Kansas City’s Games

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has made a routine of celebrating his victories with his grandchildren, and NFL fans love it.

Andy Reid led the Kansas City Chiefs to yet another Super Bowl berth after securing a clinical win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. It is Kansas City’s seventh straight appearance in the AFC Championship, and despite the ease with which Reid has seemingly done it, it isn’t easy. Coaching a team like the Chiefs is a tough job for anyone.

However, what brings the most joy to his life are his 12 grandchildren. Reid has often been pictured celebrating the Chiefs’ victories with his grandchildren, and NFL fans love it.

Fans Love To See Andy Reid’s Adorable Post-Match Moments With Grandchildren

Reid has been married to the love of his life, Tammy Reid, for over four decades. They share five children, three sons and two daughters. The Chiefs head coach’s family has doubled over the last decade, and his 12 grandchildren have brought much joy to his life.

Following the Chiefs’ Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans in January 2025, the 66-year-old was welcomed into the tunnel with a big hug from one of his young grandsons. Reid’s grandson spotted a No. 6 jersey and jumped onto the Chiefs’ head coach, who picked him up and continued celebrating his 27th career postseason win.

“Andy Reid’s grandson jumps in for a hug after the Kansas Chiefs defeat the Houston Texans,” a user wrote.

Earlier, during a win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Reid immediately switched to Grandpa mode as he was encircled by four of his 12 grandchildren. He shared an adorable group hug with them, and the clip — posted by content creator Katie Ramos — gained massive traction on Instagram with over 500,000 views.

The head coach’s love affair with his grandchildren gained attention during the team’s run to Super Bowl 58 last season. After Kansas City defeated the Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC West Division, Reid’s grandkids rushed one-by-one to hug him while he stood there smiling at them.

“Andy Reid celebrating the #Chiefs win with his grandkids. Nothing sweeter than that,” a user wrote.

Reid’s ritual of celebrating his victories with his grandchildren dates back to 2017 when the Chiefs won the AFC West. The 66-year-old was greeted by several of his grandchildren and her two daughters after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While one of the biggest moments of Reid’s coaching career was being fired by the Philadelphia Eagles, the former President of the team Joe Banner described the arrival of his grandkids as one of the biggest moments of his life.

“Having grandchildren was a big moment in Andy’s life. Someone who cares so much about family and went through what he did with his son — grandkids brought a whole new element of joy to his life,” Banner told ESPN

Banner highlighted the stress that an NFL coaching career brings and said his grandkids had played a big role in him navigating the hardness of the league.

“When you work in the NFL, you have a job that you are unbelievably lucky to have, a job that almost everyone wishes they had, but there’s a lot of stress and it’s hard to get away from. So something that puts your humanity front and center, like the joy and innocence of grandkids, it provided some joy that mitigated the hardness that people who have done what he’s been doing for 15 to 20 years start to feel.”

Reid will now take on the Eagles in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9 in New Orleans and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the 66-year-old goes viral with another sweet moment with his grandkids.
