Expert Predicts Shedeur Sanders Will Slip in 2025 NFL Draft, Falling to Surprise AFC Team

A top NFL draft expert thinks that Shedeur Sanders will fall and land in a pretty high profile situation with a different franchise than expected.

One of the biggest names heading into the 2025 NFL Draft is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Of course, when your dad is Deion Sanders, that certainly helps, but Shedeur Sanders is also one of the top quarterback prospects in this upcoming NFL Draft.

However, a top NFL Draft expert thinks Sanders will fall in the draft and land in a high-profile situation with the New York Jets.

Will The Jets Select Shedeur Sanders In The 2025 NFL Draft?

That is what Mel Kiper believes, according to his most recent NFL mock draft. This is what Kiper had to say in his blurb regarding the Jets selection:

“The Jets, however, might favor drafting a quarterback over trying another veteran. Because they are moving on from Aaron Rodgers, they could opt for the high-end accuracy and field vision of Sanders in an offense that has plenty of pieces already in place. In 2024, Sanders completed 74.0% of his passes, had 4,134 passing yards and threw 37 TDs.

“Those are all top-four numbers in the FBS. Sanders would elevate this New York team that was near the bottom of the league in most passing metrics this past season and allow it to build around his rookie contract. The youthful combination of Sanders, receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall could do some damage. (By the way, Sanders won’t be throwing in Indianapolis this week as he sits out the workouts.)”

It would be somewhat surprising if the Jets were able to stay at the seventh pick and get Sanders, as most mock drafts have him going in the top six. That includes PFSN’s mock draft, which has Sander being taken by the Raiders at No. 6.

Another interesting wrinkle is that Kiper is pretty high on Sanders as a prospect, as he has Sanders graded out as his QB1 of the class, higher than Cam Ward. He has Ward going to the Browns at the third selection, however, as he thinks that NFL teams will covet Ward over Sanders.

For reference, PFSN also has Cam Ward going No. 3 overall to the Browns.

Either way, if the Jets are able to land Sanders in the draft, they will have him surrounded by decent skill players in Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, but the Jets will need to fix their offensive line if Sanders is going to reach his full potential.
