‘He Is the Best Answer They Have’ – Ex-Ravens CB Picks Sides Between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as Steelers QB in 2025

Russell Wilson or Justin Fields? One former Ravens CB highlighted which QB the Pittsburgh Steelers should entrust moving forward.

Russell Wilson or Justin Fields will find a place in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room next season. Both of them have expressed interest in being the starter, and two QB1 options are likely not in the plan for next season.

Former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth made his choice after Art Mooney highlighted the conundrum for the Steelers.

Domonique Foxworth Picks Between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for Steelers Job

At the season-ending press conference, Mooney stated that both Wilson and Fields want the No. 1 QB job. The Steelers owner expressed that only one of them will come back for next season.

The entire world has started making their picks on which QB would suit Mike Tomlin’s side going forward. During his appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Jan. 29, Foxworth showed no hesitation in picking experience over youth.

“Russell Wilson,” he said. “It was clear the team performed better with Russell Wilson. I understand the potential for Justin Fields.”

“But he’s been around for a while, and holding on to Justin Fields based on potential seems a bit like you’re hoping for something to happen that hasn’t happened yet. So obviously, Russell is not the long-term answer, but I think he’s the best answer they have right now.”

Wilson’s talents and performances have been under review after he signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. Per PFN’s QB+ metric, Fields would have landed at No. 15 if he met the minimum pass attempt requirement; Wilson ranked No. 17.

Carroll responded to these rumors during his appearance on the “What The Football” podcast. “Right now, it’s so early and we’re just in the midst of trying to find the puzzle pieces, not even putting them together yet so I really can’t even say,” Carroll said.

“Free agency hasn’t come yet, that’s the first competitive opportunity that will occur. And then the draft is coming and we’ll have that opportunity to do things. I can’t tell you right now. I mean, I could guess, but it would just be a guess.”
