‘It’s the Dumbest Thing I’ve Heard’ – Ex-NFL QB Shuts the Door on Calls for Mike Tomlin Being Replaced at Steelers

    Published on

Former NFL QB-turned-analyst wants the narrative of Mike Tomlin leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers to be over already.

Mike Tomlin has been leading the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007. Since then, he has guided them to the playoffs 12 times, including two trips to the Super Bowl and a victory.

Yet, calls are being made to move away from the veteran head coach. However, NFL QB-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky trashed those requests.

Dan Orlovsky Wants Mike Tomlin To Stay Where He Is

The Steelers are once again in the playoffs. However, after their last loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, the fans shared their displeasure over Tomlin. Apart from fans, several analysts and pundits have suggested that the Steelers need a fresh start.

Orlovsky was on ESPN’s “First Take” panel. As this issue was raised, the former quarterback did not hold back and ripped the entire narrative. He stated that if Tomlin wants to move on to greener pastures, he should, but the Steelers front office shouldn’t think like that.

“Now, do I think that the Steelers should entertain trading Mike Tomlin? I’ve seen that obviously had in the conversations,” said Orlovsky. “I think it’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in the NFL this season that the Steelers should entertain moving on from Mike Tomlin.”

Orlovsky added that the Steelers’ unstable quarterback position since Ben Roethlisberger left has handicapped Tomlin. The analyst suggested the blame is on the front office rather than the head coach.

Tomlin Is Needed in Chicago, Argues ESPN Analyst

While the Steelers are preparing for a Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens, the narrative around Tomlin’s future refuses to die. ESPN host Mike Greenberg on “Get Up” implored the Chicago Bears to move in for Tomlin.

“I’m going to say this right now, there’s no team in the NFL that needs a culture built more than the Chicago Bears,” Greenberg said. “Chicago Bears should offer anything it takes to see if the Steelers will be willing to bring them Mike Tomlin and then just hand the franchise to him and get all these other people… the heck out of there.”

Several others have argued for Tomlin to move to the Bears and take over Caleb Williams’ development.
