Micah Parsons is heading into his third NFL season and hopes to help break the Dallas Cowboys’ dry spell of not adding a new Lombardi Trophy to their collection for over two decades.
Parsons knows that the journey to Super Bowl 58 starts on Sunday against the New York Giants.
Micah Parsons on Sunday’s Matchup Against the Giants
Although the 24-year-old says, he’s both excited and anxious to play on Sunday.
“I’m just super excited just to get to Sunday. A little anxious, obviously not being able to get my feet wet yet like some other guys, but ready to just get my hands on and let it loose,” said the edge rusher.
He discussed the importance of setting the tone early in the game because he described the Giants as a team as not being a “walkover team” because of the offense they have put together and the work they have put in during the offseason.
“They’re going to come and give us their best shot, and each game last year came down to the wire, so it’s not a game that we’re just like, man, this is the game; every game, this is like a Super Bowl,” said Parsons.
If you were wondering if opening up the season against a division rival gives Parsons extra juice, his answer was, “Nah, man, everyone gets the same smoke.”
Parsons’ Reunion With Saquon Barkley
Parsons and Giants running back Saquon Barkley were former teammates at Penn State.
They attended Penn State’s opening game against West Virginia over the weekend.
S/o to all our NFL guys that spent the weekend w/ us in Happy Valley 🤟

When Parsons was asked about his conversations with Barkley about their teams playing the following weekend for their first regular season game, he smiled and said they talked a lot about it.
“He’s talking about his new run style, how he’s going back to the Penn State Saquon, things like that. But you know we both know it’s all love at the end of the day. He’s like a big brother to me. He’s a big reason why I committed to Penn State, and I’m always looking forward to play him,” said Parsons.
Parsons on His Expectations for the Team Around Him and the 2023 Season
Parsons spoke about what the team around him looks like, being the best defense he has ever been on, saying, “I’m predicting a lot of good things from these guys this year.”
Although this could create a ripple effect for the pass rush to have more opportunities to sack the quarterback, he says the team has to earn those opportunities by stopping the run first, but he thinks the team can rack up more coverage sacks this season.
Overall, Parsons is fixated on one thing this season: winning a Super Bowl.

“Man, I’ve been sleeping on it. I’ve been dreaming about it. It’s late at night, man. I just think Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Super Bowl,” said Parsons.
But he also added that he has a balance with his mindset in not getting too caught up in it because of the understanding that the focus needs to be on winning week by week.
“I know I got to take care of each week of his own. Every day has its worries of its own, and every day you have to focus on just getting better that inch and inch, and eventually you’ll build enough inches to where you are in the Super Bowl,” said Parsons.
When he discussed Mike McCarthy’s theme of “Carpe Omnia,” he said it was a good message, and the empty frame outside of the team room is an example of what he already practices, which is the art of manifestation.
“I’m a big person in manifesting and closing my eyes and thinking about the plays I’m gonna make the night before, what’s going to happen in the future. So that way, sometimes I almost feel like it’s déjà vu,” said the edge rusher.
Parsons on Nick Bosa’s Contract
Parsons discussed Nick Bosa’s new contract and said Bosa showed why he was the best player in the league last season, which inspires Parsons.

“It gives you something chase man, and not terms of his contract but in terms of how great he was. If you study his mindset, how patient he was, and just let the game come to him, it’s really something to look for,” said Parsons.
The edge rusher said Bosa knows he is coming for him stating, “[Bosa] even said to my ears, I won this year, and he said I know you’ll be coming for it next year, and I said you damn right so you know it’s going to be a good chase.”
