‘It’s Not Fun’ — Emotional Josh Allen Makes Feelings Clear After Bills’ Devastating Loss to Chiefs in AFC Title Game

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was sullen after the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He is now 0-4 against the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was emotionally spent after the AFC Championship Game. He still summoned up the courage and the ability to meet with the media after the game and admit defeat.

“It’s not fun,” Allen said after the Bills lost yet again to the Chiefs in the postseason. “To be the champs, you gotta beat the champs. And we didn’t do it tonight.”

Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen Reacts to Another Brutal Playoff Loss

Allen is now 0-4 against Kansas City in the postseason. Once again, he fell short of making his first Super Bowl appearance. The loss stings more knowing that Patrick Mahomes will be going to his third consecutive Super Bowl. For the second time in that stretch, Buffalo was unsuccessfully in his path.

It can safely be said Mahomes has Allen’s number.

The Chiefs went 15-2 in the regular season, tying the Detroit Lions for the best record in the NFL. Mahomes was not only absent from the MVP candidate list, but he wasn’t even selected for the Pro Bowl. However, the Chiefs’ superstar proved that when the stakes are high and the lights are the brightest, he is the best quarterback and the most valuable player in the league.

Allen and Baltimore Ravens star Jackson are among the MVP finalists this season, but none of them will play in the Super Bowl. Mahomes, much like Tom Brady, has risen to the occasion repeatedly, flipping the switch when the Chiefs need him most.

The 29-year-old quarterback is 4-0 against Allen and the Bills in the playoffs. In those four games, he has thrown for 1,163 yards, nine touchdowns, and no interceptions, completing 74% of his throws with a passer rating of 123.7.

Mahomes made big plays with his legs in the 32-29 win as he rushed for 43 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. The contest goes to show how Mahomes can adapt to the situation and just win games however the situation demands they be won.

Allen is still 28 years old and the No. 3-ranked QB per PFN’s QB+ metric, so the Bills will continue to have opportunities to win the Super Bowl. But after another stagnant end to their season, it will be interesting to see if a more drastic reshaping of the roster will commence this offseason.

Most teams wouldn’t consider the No. 2 seed and a Championship Game appearance to be a disappointment. For Allen and a Buffalo team that’s repeatedly been so close, disappointment only begins to tell the story.
