‘Joe Burrow Can’t Be in the MVP Race’ – Ex-NFL Star Blasts Bengals QB’s MVP Talk, Calls It Insult to Previous Winners

Emmanuel Acho does not believe that Bengals QB Joe Burrow should be in the race for the NFL's MVP Award due to a shortage of wins.

NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho does not believe that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow should be in the conversation for the NFL’s MVP Award. And with the Bengals struggling as a team for much of the year, Acho might have a point.

NFL Analyst Opposes Joe Burrow Winning MVP Award

Acho is vehemently protesting Burrow’s inclusion in the conversation for the MVP award due to the Bengals’ futility.

Acho thinks the MVP award should go to one who leads the team to victories. He does, however, believe that Burrow should be in the conversation for NFL Offensive Player of the Year, which is based primarily on statistics.

The FOX Sports analyst is a Burrow backer, just not for MVP. In fact, after Burrow’s performance this past Saturday, Ocho took to social media to praise the former Heisman Trophy winner.

“Joe Burrow is HIM!” wrote Acho on X. “Joe Burrow is good enough to beat the opponent AND his own teammates’ errors. There is no more questioning ‘cool’ Joe Burrow!”

Burrow is having a sensational season, statistically. However the individual statistics are not translating into wins for the Bengals.

On Saturday against the Denver Broncos, Burrow was brilliant. He was 39 of 49 passing for 412 yards and three touchdowns. The Bengals won the game 30-24, which raised their record to 8-8 on the season and kept their playoff hopes alive for the time being.

Other MVP candidates, meanwhile — including Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen — are having statistically outstanding years and are leading their teams to division titles in the process.

The Buffalo Bills are 13-3 and have knocked off the best two teams in football behind Allen’s arm and legs. Buffalo already dealt the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs their only loss on the season. The Bills also beat the Detroit Lions, giving them one of their two blemishes on the season.

Buffalo is arguably the hottest team in the AFC. They are running track meets in their games, and the offense is the main reason. They put up 40 points against the lowly New York Jets on Sunday, despite Allen playing with a broken hand since Week 1.

Jackson, meanwhile, has led the Baltimore Ravens to an 11-5 record. And after defeating the Houston Texans 31-2 on Christmas Day, Baltimore can win the AFC North with a win this Saturday against the Cleveland Browns or see the Pittsburgh Steelers lose to the Bengals later in the night.

Past MVP winners have led their teams to the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes, who deserves at least some recognition in the MVP conversation this season for leading the Chiefs to the best record in football, has led Kansas City to three Super Bowl titles in the last five years.
