Easton Stick Salary and Contract: How Much Is the Chargers QB Making in 2023?

    Published on

Easton Stick is in line to make his first career start for the Chargers in Week 15. But financially, what is the young QB making, and what is his deal?

Easton Stick was a statistically successful college quarterback while playing for the North Dakota State Bison. Stick finished his career with a 49-3 record and was a four-time champion during his five seasons with the program. Despite all that college success, Stick hasn’t made any impact at all since entering the NFL in 2019.

During this time he has only appeared in two games, with the first of 2023 coming in Week 14 in relief of Justin Herbert following his finger injury. Now that the report is that Herbert is done for the season following surgery, it looks to be Stick’s time to shine.

With his newfound opportunity under center for the Los Angeles Chargers, let’s take a look at how much he is making in the NFL and what his contract projects to be going forward.

Easton Stick Contract Details With Los Angeles Chargers

According to Spotrac, Stick signed a one-year, $1.8 million contract with the Chargers this season.

That deal included a $152,500 signing bonus and $1,152,500 in guarantees. In 2023, Stick will earn a base salary of $1,647,500 while carrying a cap hit of $1,232,500.

Beyond this season, Stick has no other assurances going forward and has no further years under contract. With Herbert’s injury, this looks to be the opportunity he has been waiting for since entering the league five seasons ago.

A New Outlook for Stick-Led Chargers

There was much hope around this year’s Chargers team coming into the season. As they sit at 5-8 and having just lost their young star quarterback for the year, it is obvious that the season has not panned out the way they had hoped it would.

What looked like a hopeful season which many thought would be the start of the Chargers being real players in the AFC race has now quickly turned into an uncertain future for coaches and front office alike.

Surely there will be no quit in the Chargers in the last month of the season, especially out of head coach Brandon Staley. However, with there being a real unknown regarding Stick and his ability to produce at this level, Stick may not be the only one who is fighting for his NFL life over these last few games, and it may be a concerted effort from all hands on deck to try and keep all of their jobs in California.
