It’s Week 14 and the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys once again. With Philadelphia at 10-2 and Dallas at 9-3, the matchup will be for first place in the NFC East.
The two faced off in Week 9, with the Eagles winning 28-23. However, ahead of their Week 14 matchup, the topic of conversation is the officiating crew. John Hussey will be the lead referee.
Who Are the Refs for Eagles vs. Cowboys?
With head referee John Hussey and his crew, Eagles fans are rejoicing: Philadelphia has a 7-0 record with his crew officiating. “Cowboys fans getting excuses ready,” said one Eagles fan on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The last two Philadelphia games involving Hussey, only six penalties combined were called against the Eagles. For the opponents, 21 penalties were called.
The Cowboys have received the fourth-most offensive holding and most defensive holding penalties in the league so far. However, Hussey’s crew is below average on calling defensive holding and roughing the passer. The crew does call an above-average amount of unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Eagles two losses this season have come against the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers. The Cowboys losses have come against the 49ers, Eagles, and Cardinals.
Home division teams, such as the Cowboys in this scenario, are 33-14-2 against the spread when Hussey is the head referee. That is the best home record for any referee in that span. “Rigged!” said another fan on X.
The last time the Eagles and Cowboys faced off, Tra Blake was the head referee. In that game, each team had 10 penalties. The Eagles had 10 for 98 yards as opposed to the Cowboys’ 10 for 83 yards.
