Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Jared Verse is Public Enemy No. 1 in Philadelphia after comments he made about Eagles fans.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay Jr. said on social media he would not be surprised if Eagles fans threw snowballs at the Los Angeles Rams sidelines. Darius Slay Jr. Suggests Eagles Fans Could Throw Snowballs at Rams Sidelines

“I think Eagles fans are fired up regardless,” Slay said. “And if there’s snow out there, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s snowballs thrown on their sideline.”

The Eagles’ fans have garnered the reputation of being the harshest fans in the NFL, and the Rams’ rookie Verse called them out for their bad behavior. Verse took shots at the Eagles’ fan base before their Divisional Round matchup this weekend.

Verse, who is from Berwick, Pa., attended Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg, Pa., and had some harsh words for Eagles fans.

Verse told the Los Angeles Times:

“I hate Eagles fans. They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans. I didn’t even do nothing to them. It was my first time playing. Oh, I hate Eagles fans. … When I see that green and white, I hate it. I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”

That comment probably will not sit well with Eagles fans, and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley mentioned that in his comments: “Probably not the smartest thing to say coming to Philadelphia. … Probably would not give them extra fuel,” he said.

He’s right about that. If anyone knows the history of the Eagles and their fans, they know it’s probably not the smartest thing to say — and Verse is going to hear from them loud and clear during the game this weekend.

The History of Philadelphia Eagles Fans

Eagles fans are probably one of the most hated and roughest fan bases in the NFL, and they don’t take any mess off of anyone. Keep in mind, these are the same fans who booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus once at a game.

The incident has gone down in Eagles lore and is a testimony of how cruel their fan base can be.

According to the story, the team brought out Santa during halftime against the Minnesota Vikings during the 1968 season to cheer the fans up while the team was having a miserable season (2-11). Fans weren’t in the mood, though, and not only booed Santa but threw snowballs at him.

Examples don’t end there; Eagles and Dallas Cowboys fans and players famously hate one another, and the hate reached its hype back in the 1999 season when, during a Cowboys-Eagles game, Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin got hurt and some Eagle fans cheered his injury.

This incident even led city leaders to call out the fan base. To say that Verse probably made the biggest mistake of his career may be an understatement — because win or lose, Verse is probably going to be lucky to get out of Philadelphia without too many issues.
