The Philadelphia Eagles already boast one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL. But what if they added one of the league’s top edge rushers to that unit? A Philadelphia sports personality was dreaming about that possibility on March 17.

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Named Potential Eagles Trade Target
Philadelphia sports radio personality Joe Giglio acknowledged that it’s unlikely to happen. But if Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has taught the fan base anything, it’s to dream big.
With that in mind, Giglio floated the idea of Dallas Cowboys All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons as a potential trade target for the Eagles.
“Why it could happen: Am I allowed to dream? Parsons is my NFL Juan Soto. I want him in Philadelphia at all costs, regardless of how fans here currently feel about him,” Giglio wrote. “We’re talking about an all-time start (52.5 sacks, 4 All-Pro selections in four seasons) to his career. If Parsons stays healthy and on this track, he’ll be in Canton one day.
“Would the Cowboys actually trade him here? Probably not, but Jerry Jones is in his Al Davis era. Anything is possible.
“The Eagles have long-term cap issues, but adding a player like this would make other more difficult decisions worth it. Parsons and Jalen Carter would be the NFL’s best defensive duo for the next half decade. I’d trade the proverbial farm for him.”
The big question isn’t just whether the Cowboys would trade Parsons—it’s whether they’d do the unthinkable and send him to a division rival, especially their biggest roadblock in the NFC East.
That makes a trade unlikely. But as Giglio pointed out, he’s allowed to dream.
Parsons Off to Historic Start in NFL Career
The 25-year-old edge rusher missed four games in the 2024 season, likely costing him a fourth straight All-Pro selection. Even with the missed games, Parsons still racked up 12 sacks in 13 games in 2024.
Through his first four seasons, Parsons has posted 52.5 sacks, reaching at least 12 sacks each year. He earned first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie and again in his second season, while also winning Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 2023, he was named second-team All-Pro after posting a career-high 14 sacks.
Despite his historic start, that hasn’t stopped trade rumors from swirling around the Cowboys star.
“There’s been enough noise on Micah Parsons’s relationships inside the Cowboys’ building over the last year to put anyone’s radar up for a trade, with Parsons potentially commanding $40 million per year on a second contract,” wrote Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer on Feb. 17.
“If you’re willing to pay that, plus high-end picks, for a uniquely talented defensive star … I’d give Dallas a call.”
The Eagles own eight draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Because of compensatory selections, they are also set to have five top-100 picks in 2026.
That could put Philadelphia in prime position to make a blockbuster trade before the 2025 draft. If Roseman truly wants to make a splash, a trade for Parsons would certainly do it.
