After a disastrous end to last season, the Philadelphia Eagles are eager to improve this offseason. That started with revamping their coaching staff, and their next move could be trading star pass rusher Haason Reddick.
Philadelphia Eagles News Roundup Feb. 29
While Eagles general manager Howie Roseman weighs his options in a potential trade involving Reddick, Philadelphia has other holes to fill. Including a major question at cornerback, with multiple Eagles players reportedly reaching out to Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. All of that and more in today’s Eagles news roundup!
NFL Trade Rumors: Several Teams Interested in Eagles LB Haason Reddick
Several teams are showing interest in trading for the Eagles star pass rusher, Reddick. Since signing with Philadelphia in 2022, Reddick has revitalized his career and turned into one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. Yet at 29 years old, the Eagles are forced to make a tough decision on Reddick’s future.
Given their cap situation, the Eagles might not want to sign Reddick to the contract extension that he rightfully deserves. According to several reports, multiple teams are interested in trading for Reddick. Now, it’s up to Roseman and the Eagles to decide what they want to do with their top edge rusher.
NFL Report Card: Eagles Grade as League’s Fourth-Best Franchise by NFLPA
Despite their disappointing finish to last season, the Eagles were graded as the fourth-best franchise in the NFLPA’s survey. Many have questioned Nick Sirianni and the job that he did in Philadelphia last season, but he received an ‘A’ grade, the sixth highest in the NFL.
The Eagles also received top-10 grades in food/cafeteria, training room, training staff, weight room, strength coaches, and ownership. While it was tough to watch Philadelphia end last season, it’s clear that the players are happy with their situation off the field.
Eagles Player Hints at Trade Interest in Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed
Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams isn’t shy about recruiting his former college teammate, Chiefs cornerback Sneed. A report surfaced that multiple Eagles players reached out to Sneed to convince him to sign with the Eagles in free agency.
Williams did little to deny those rumors, as he replied to the report with the good old eyes emoji. Eagles running back Boston Scott and tight end Griffin Hebert have also joined in on the recruiting effort, as they were also college teammates with Sneed at Louisiana Tech.
Eagles Watched Film With Linebacker Prospect Who Can Help Fix Defense
The Eagles are taking their need at linebacker seriously, as they watched film with Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper at the 2024 NFL Combine. Cooper is viewed as one of the top linebackers in the 2024 NFL Draft, with many believing that he’ll be a first-round pick.
Philadelphia’s fans have been begging for the Eagles to invest a premium asset at the linebacker position for years. If they can land a linebacker of Cooper’s caliber, it would be a home run selection for Philadelphia. Cooper would likely be a foundational piece of Philadelphia’s defense for the next decade.
New York Jets Players Make Shocking Accusations That Mecole Hardman Leaked Their Game Plan to the Eagles
Although the Eagles lost to the New York Jets in Week 6 last season, they might have had access to New York’s offensive game plan before their matchup. Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner hinted at the idea that New York’s offensive game plan was leaked to the Eagles, although he has since deleted the post on X (formerly Twitter).
If what Gardner said is true, that makes Philadelphia’s loss to the Jets even more embarrassing than we initially thought it was. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts struggled with turnovers while Jets quarterback Zach Wilson played a surprisingly mistake-free game.
