‘Those Things Can Bite You’ – Eagles Legend Blames CeeDee Lamb’s Holdout for $136,000,000 Contract Amid Cowboys’ Disappointing Season

    Published on

One former Philadelphia Eagles legend cited Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb's holdout for a new contract as the impetus for Dallas' 2024 demise.

Merely days before the season began, CeeDee Lamb signed a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys. This deal made him the second-highest-paid non-QB player in the league.

However, former Philadelphia Eagles legend Fletcher Cox contends this $136 million deal could’ve been the cause of the hurt the Cowboys are facing right now.

Fletcher Cox Argues the Timing of CeeDee Lamb’s Deal Is To Blame for the Cowboys’ Mess

America’s Team is 3-6 after last week’s loss against the perennial rivals Eagles. While Cox was in a celebratory mood to witness the downfall of the Cowboys, he had reasons why this was happening as well.

During the 2018 Super Bowl winner’s appearance on the Up & Adams Show, he highlighted that Lamb’s delay in joining the team was a poor decision. “I think the biggest thing is one of their best players sat out during the entire training camp, and those things can bite you when you gotta miss a lot of time,” he said.

“Some people think it can’t, but it can bite you as an individual and as a teammate,” added Cox. He is correct in pointing out the timeline: Lamb missed the entire offseason practice sessions including the mandatory training camp.

This season, Lamb has caught the ball 59 times for 681 yards and has four touchdowns to his name in nine games. His average of 11.5 yards per catch is his worst in five years of pro football.

Against the Eagles, backup QB Cooper Rush threw the ball flush at Lamb in the red zone. However, the WR missed it. “Couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball at all,” Lamb told reporters after the game. “The sun.”

Despite the uncertainty of their ongoing contract dispute, the thought of the Cowboys trading CeeDee Lamb shouldn't be a serious one.

Later, the 25-year-old was ridiculed for his sunlight excuse by a former Super Bowl champion. The Cowboys owner also got into the entire ordeal dismissing Lamb’s claims.

“Well, let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one? You kidding me?” he added. “Everybody’s got the same thing,” said Jerry Jones. “Every team that comes in here has the same issues. They know where the sun’s going to be. Every team has the same thing.”
