NFC East division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, went up against each other during the Conference Championship round.
Fans of the two teams, who are battling for a third time this season, found themselves a common enemy for a brief moment during a tailgate session in Philadelphia ahead of the game.
Eagles, Commanders Fans Come Together for ‘Dallas Sucks’ Chant at Tailgate
The NFC East harbors some of the longest-running, bitterest rivalries in the NFL today. The Washington Commanders, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles have been battling each other for nearly a century now.
Although the Dallas Cowboys are the newest team of the quartet, they also harbor the highest amount of postseason success in the division. Established in 1960, the ‘Boys won five Super Bowl titles by 1995, becoming “America’s Team” in the process with their repeat success.
Most of these titles came during the NFC’s dominant run at the Super Bowl from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. It was also the period when the Giants won two titles, while the Commanders had a dynastic run with three. The NFC East became the toast of pro football fans across the nation and consistently had the most engaged fan bases.
Of late, the Cowboys have not had much postseason success to boast about, getting eliminated in the playoffs before the championship round in each of the last 29 campaigns. This lack of success, however, has hardly dented the animosity of their division rivals’ fans for the franchise.
As tailgates took place across the Tri-State area ahead of the NFC Championship, footage of some Eagles and Cowboys fans coming together for a “Dallas sucks” chant has gone viral on social media.

The reactions to this footage range from mildly amused (neutral fans) to overly peeved (Cowboys fans).
One fan wrote: “This could actually bring the entire country together.”

Another expressed the same sentiment about Cowboys fans, noting how it helps to unite the nation: “We may be divided politically as a country but it’s good to see that we can all agree that the Cowboys suck.”

A Cowboys fan called this a petty move by the two fan bases, implying that his team lives “rent free” in the division rival fans’ heads: “Yall playing to go to the Super Bowl and yall thinking about us…SAD yet HILARIOUS.”

There’s no doubt that “America’s Team” still has massive drawing power. Even during a season when their starting quarterback went down with injury, Cowboys fans stuck with their obsession.
The team finished tied for third in viewers per game during the 2024 NFL regular season, behind only the Taylor Swift-bolstered Chiefs fan base with over 25 million eyes and the reinvigorated Detroit Lions (23.8 million) tuning into each broadcast.
