‘Maybe They Know Something I Don’t’ – Eagles’ A.J. Brown Addresses Trade Rumors

    Published on

The 2023 season did not go the way the Philadelphia Eagles thought it would. Could WR A.J. Brown be on the move as a result?

No team in the NFL had a worse stretch of the season than the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia started the year 10-1 but finished 11-6 with a first-round playoff exit.

There’s no way around it, this year didn’t go the way A.J. Brown and his teammates thought it would.

And now, just a year removed from being in the Super Bowl, there are talks of the star wide receiver possibly being on the trading block. It’s something Brown discussed Wednesday morning and gave a laid-back, but interesting answer to the whole situation.

Eagles’ A.J. Brown Discusses Trade Rumors

On the latest episode of Up and Adams with Kay Adams, Brown, accompanied by his teammate DeVonta Smith, was asked by Adams his thoughts surrounding the trade rumors. Brown gave a veteran answer that certainly didn’t spell any of the future intrigue around the idea.

    “I don’t know, I don’t know, maybe they know something I don’t,” Brown started.

“You know, uh, I’ve kind of been through this before, you know, I’m a vet, so I’ll remain quiet, and uh, you know if something happens I’ll be waiting by the phone. If not, then I’ll be right here.”

When it comes to on-field production, Brown has been one of the better WRs in the NFL over the last couple of seasons. However, the production at the back end of the year dipped a bit, and the frustration occasionally boiled over on the sidelines.

While no one has come out to say that these are real problems between Brown, Jalen Hurts, or the Eagles as a whole, the trade rumors — whether credible or not — may be rooted in some displeasure somewhere.

Brown doesn’t seem to be outwardly bothered. He mentioned that he has been through a similar situation while with the Tennessee Titans, and his understanding of the NFL being a business surely helps with the demeanor he possesses regarding the matter.

However, on the field, the move would be a bit of a shock.

Since joining the Eagles, Brown has been highly productive and has been a security blanket of sorts for Hurts throughout that time.

What happens from all this remains to be seen, but despite Brown not showing his cards regarding the rumors, there’s a lot of offseason left for these things to sort out, and it will surely be something to monitor.
