Eagles 2024 Free Agents: D’Andre Swift, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham Among Philadelphia FAs

    Published on

Will the Eagles re-sign RB D'Andre Swift in 2024? What about franchise icons Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham? Let's examine all of Philadelphia's upcoming FAs.

The Philadelphia Eagles are typically among the NFL‘s most active teams once free agency opens, and the club will have a few prominent areas to address in March. Last season, the Eagles also used free agency to re-sign several of their own players, which they could do again in 2024.

Which pending FAs will Philadlephia try to retain this year? Let’s run through the Eagles scheduled to hit the open market.

Who Are the Philadelphia Eagles’ Upcoming Free Agents?

    RB D’Andre Swift

Moves like the A.J. Brown trade — which cost the Eagles first and third-round picks in 2022 — earned Howie Roseman the NFL’s Executive of the Year Award. But smaller transactions, like Philadelphia’s draft-day deal for ex-Detroit Lions RB D’Andre Swift in 2023, have continued to improve the Eagles’ roster on the margins.

Philadelphia gave up a 2025 fifth-round pick and swapped seventh-rounders in 2023 to land Swift, who’s still just 25 years old and outperformed the $1.7 million the Eagles paid him last season. He topped 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career and — perhaps most critically — stayed healthy.

Swift, whose Lions workload was often kept in check, handled double-digit carries in all but two games last season. As usual, he contributed to the passing game, narrowly missing a fourth consecutive 40-reception campaign.

The Eagles rarely spend significant cash on running backs. Still, Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny are also hitting free agency, leaving Kenneth Gainwell as the only Philadelphia RB under contract in 2024.

Swift will also be part of a crowded free agent running back class that includes Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, Derrick Henry, and others. A return to the Eagles could make sense if the vast array of RB options limits Swift’s asking price.

    DT Fletcher Cox

While Fletcher Cox is a Philadelphia icon, he won’t have to cash in on his celebrity status to land another deal with the Eagles. He was still an effective defender in his age-32 campaign and played more snaps than any other Philadelphia DT last season.

The Eagles retained Cox on a one-year, $10 million deal in 2023. At the time, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Cox turned down more lucrative offers elsewhere to accept a “hometown discount” from Philadlephia.

Cox hasn’t decided whether he’ll retire this offseason. He’s never played for another team besides the Eagles, and he probably doesn’t want to change cities now. If Cox intends to return, another one-year pact in the $10-12 million range should be on the table.

    EDGE Brandon Graham

Speaking of organizational stalwarts, Brandon Graham is currently the longest-tenured athlete in the city of Philadelphia. Now heading into his age-34 season, Graham told reporters in January that he intends to play in 2024.

“I still feel like I got a little bit of juice,” Graham said after the Eagles’ Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “I really just want to have this one be [season No.] 15, farewell tour, call it a day, and move up in the organization, and go upstairs and do that part on serving the guys. Keep building this thing.”

Graham generated free agent interest from the Cleveland Browns last offseason, but like Cox, it’s hard to imagine Graham in another uniform. He played for $5 million in 2023.

LBs Zach Cunningham, Shaquille Leonard, and Nicholas Morrow

Philadelphia’s approach to its linebacker depth chart hasn’t changed in recent years. The Eagles prefer to shop for value rather than devoting real resources to the middle of their defense, and they’ll likely take that path in 2024.

Nakobe Dean was supposed to be Philadelphia’s top LB, but the 2022 third-round pick was sent to injured reserve for the second time in Week 9 and didn’t suit up again for the rest of the season.

Instead, the Eagles relied on Zach Cunningham, Nicholas Morrow, and November addition Shaquille Leonard, all of whom are scheduled to hit the open market next month. Philadelphia could re-sign one member of that cadre in 2024, even if it wants to give Dean another shot at a starting job.

However, none of Cunningham, Morrow, or Leonard made PFN’s list of top free agent linebackers. The Eagles might be able to upgrade at the second level without spending much more than a league minimum salary.
