Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft 2021: Quarterbacks fly off the board in Round 1

2021 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft | Second Round

Who are you going to complement your first-round selection with?

    11) Jonathan Taylor (RB4 – Indianapolis Colts)
    First-round pick: Tyreek Hill

Jonathan Taylor was “my guy” as a rookie last season, and he showed everyone how special of an RB he can be. In Weeks 13-17, Taylor was the RB1 in fantasy with 130 points (651 rushing yards and 8 total touchdowns). He finished the season as the RB6 despite Indianapolis doing everything possible to use either Nyheim Hines or Jordan Wilkins.

However, he did what was expected when you look at the competition. He played against the Texans twice (31st vs. RBs in fantasy points), Packers (28th), Raiders (29th), Jaguars (30th), and the Steelers (2nd), who were dealing with a plethora of injuries. Taylor could be the RB2 in dynasty. You could make the case he already is. It’s hard to find a better pick to start the second round of this Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft.

    12) Russell Wilson (QB7 – Seattle Seahawks)
    First-round pick: Justin Herbert

Since coming into the NFL in 2012, Russell Wilson has never finished worse than QB11. In five of those seasons, Wilson finished inside the top six. Over the last three seasons, Wilson has scored 21+ points in 64% of his games and 16+ 82% of the times he has stepped on the field.

Given the positional scarcity in a superflex draft, going QB/QB makes a bunch of sense, and the floor/ceiling combo of Wilson and Herbert has a team set up for long-term success.

    13) A.J. Brown (WR2 – Tennessee Titans)
    First-round pick: Dalvin Cook

While the acquisition of Julio Jones via trade does hamper A.J. Brown’s ability to finish as the WR1 in 2021, dynasty is a long-term format, and few have a higher potential trajectory than Brown.

Battling through a pair of injuries, Brown recorded 70 receptions on 106 targets for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns and proved his high touchdown rate of 2019 was no fluke. He was third (2.3) in points per target and second in points per reception (3.48). At just 23 years old, there is a strong debate for Brown to be the WR1 in dynasty rankings.

    14) Alvin Kamara (RB5 – New Orleans Saints)
    First-round pick: Saquon Barkley

With running backs being the cornerstones of any dynasty team, the value of Alvin Kamara as an RB2 is too much to pass up.

While there are questions on how Kamara will fare in a non-Drew Brees offense, he is one of the best and more versatile RBs in the NFL and has one of the best play-callers and head coaches in Sean Payton at the helm. With an entire offseason to plan for the new-look offense, expect Kamara to be a massive focal point and one of the top PPR backs in fantasy for years to come.

    15) Davante Adams (WR3 – Green Bay Packers)
    First-round pick: Lamar Jackson

If you could guarantee me that Aaron Rodgers is the QB of the Packers for the next three years, Davante Adams would be the WR1 in dynasty and a locked-in first-round pick even in superflex formats. But the questions surrounding the future of Rodgers and the potential impact on Green Bay’s offense are enough to push Adams down a few pegs.

In 2020, Adams recorded a league-high 18 touchdowns and 1,374 yards on 149 targets for 358.4 PPR points as the top-scoring receiver. Of WRs who saw at least 75 targets, Adams was second with 2.42 PPR per target. He also led the NFL in targets per game at 10.64. Furthermore, he was third in reception percentage at 77.18% and No. 1 in red-zone targets (28) despite playing in just 14 games.

    16) Joe Burrow (QB8 – Cincinnati Bengals)
    First-round pick: Dak Prescott

If not for his devastating knee injury, Joe Burrow could have pushed Justin Herbert for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Over 10 starts, he completed 264 passes (65.4%) for 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. The volume at which the Bengals threw the ball was staggering. In 10 and a half games, Burrow attempted more passes (404) than Lamar Jackson did all season (376).

It will all come down to whether or not the Bengals can keep the LSU QB on his feet. Still, Burrow has all the talent in the world and has proven to be a top-ranked QB and one of the most valuable players in superflex dynasty mock drafts for 2021.

    17) D.K. Metcalf (WR3 – Seattle Seahawks)
    First-round pick: Christian McCaffrey

D.K. Metcalf ended as the WR7 with 271.3 PPR points. Yet, the way the season ended was disappointing. From Weeks 1-9, Metcalf was the WR3. On the other hand, from Weeks 10-17, he was the WR23 and averaged 12.9 PPR points per game. Moreover, he scored just 11.5 points per game over the last five games and was the WR38.

Metcalf has the talent to be the best receiver in all of football. We just need to see him put it all together to do so. Wide receivers extend championship windows as they retain their value better than almost anyone. Few WRs are more valuable than Metcalf.

    18) Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars – QB9)
    First-round pick: Kyler Murray

Has he played a single snap in the NFL? No. But for the last three years, we have been fawning over Trevor Lawrence and what he could do at the NFL level.

If you wanted to go Lawrence over Burrow, I’d get it. But Burrow has already proven what he can do, where we still need to see it from Lawrence. Although, I have no doubt he will live up to the billing.

    19) Derrick Henry (RB6 – Tennessee Titans)
    First-round pick: Josh Allen

I understand there are concerns that at some point, the volume will catch up to Derrick Henry. But until that time comes, it’s hard to overlook the guy who just ran for over 2,000 yards the previous season.

Over the last two seasons, he’s averaged 340 rushes for 1,783 yards and 16 rushing TDs as the RB5 and RB3 in PPR.

    20) Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings – WR5)
    First-round pick: Patrick Mahomes

As a rookie, Justin Jefferson established himself as a top deep threat in the NFL. As the season developed, Jefferson showed he was also one of the most complete receivers and could win in virtually any scenario.

The former LSU standout finished the 2020 season with 1,400 receiving yards — a total that set rookie records in both the Super Bowl era and Minnesota franchise history. Jefferson ended the season as the WR6 in PPR formats with 274.2 points (17.1 ppg). Of the top 30 receivers last season, he was first in yards per target (11.2) and fifth in points per target (2.16).
