2020 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft (Post Draft Superflex)

Now that the draft is behind us, that means rookie drafts are ahead of us. Here's where the PFN guys would take your favorite rookies.

    Round 4

4.01 (Tommy) – Devin Duvernay, WR – Baltimore Ravens

Texas Longhorns’ WR Devin Duvernay going to the Baltimore Ravens is a sneaky great pick. In his career at Texas, Duvernay saw 244 targets and only recorded five dropped passes, the lowest percentage of any Power-5 wide receiver since 2018.

While only 5’11”, he plays as if he is 6’3″. Duvernay loves to be physical and rarely goes down on the first contact. Rewatch the film from Texas vs. LSU and you will see Duvernay catch a quick screen and then drop a shoulder and run over LSU S Grant Delpit with no run-up. Baltimore’s offense just got scarier, and so did the depth on my team.

    4.02 (Frosty) – Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR – Washington Redskins

I couldn’t leave the draft without taking one wide receiver from this class. Washington is not my favorite landing spot, but AGG has the highest ceiling of the receivers remaining, in my opinion. We won’t see him break out in year one as we saw Terry McLaurin do, but Gandy-Golden could work himself into the WR2 role.

4.03 (Corey) – Lynn Bowden, WR – Las Vegas Raiders

So apparently, the Raiders may be using Bowden as an RB instead of WR. Either way, I like the versatility and athleticism he brings to an offense that has plenty of weapons now. The draft capital of Bowden in the third was appealing to me here as well.

4.04 (Jordan) – James Proche, WR – Baltimore Ravens

SMU’s James Proche was one of my favorite sleeper wide receivers of the 2020 NFL Draft class, and nothing changed with his landing spot. Proche lands on a Ravens’ offense in desperate need of wide receiver help. After trotting out Marquise Brown, Willie Snead, and Miles Boykin a season ago, the Ravens have refused to add significant help at the wide receiver position. The Ravens did add wide receiver Devin Duvernay in the third-round, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Proche had a role as a chain-moving slot in Baltimore.

4.05 (Dennis) – Lamical Perine, RB – New York Jets

Perine does a little bit of everything and is a well-rounded back. He is an exceptional receiver out of the backfield, hauling in 40 passes during his senior season at Florida. He has the size to be a three-down back in the NFL and held his own in pass protection. Perine will contribute immediately in his rookie season as a backup to Le’Veon Bell and could develop to be his eventual replacement.

4.06 (Andrew) – Cole Kmet, TE – Chicago Bears

What are the odds?! I end up getting Kmet for this RB heavy team anyway at 4.06. As I said, he’s got some good skills that the Bears apparently liked enough to take him in the early second round, so he should see the field early and often, and hopefully, be a great TE of the future for my team.

4.07 (Tommy) – Quintez Cephus, WR – Detroit Lions

Want to take a guess who number one CB Jeff Okudah called the best receiver he has ever had to guard? Wisconson Badger Quintez Cephus. Cephus stats aren’t as impressive as others only because he missed 2018 due to legal issues. He racked up 59 receptions for 901 yards and seven touchdowns for the Badgers in 2019.

While he underperformed at the 40 during the NFL Combine, it is not enough to scare me off. Here is the kicker people haven’t realized yet. While he steps into the WR3 this year, he could end up being the WR1 after the season as both Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones are on the final year of their respective contracts. The path to significant playing time is a very short road for Cephus.

4.08 (Frosty) – Jake Fromm, QB – Buffalo Bills

It’s Superflex, so leaving without a QB is not ideal. I’ve fallen far off on guys like Jordan Love, and Jalen Hurts from where they landed. Who knows when they’ll get a chance to see the field, if ever? I was surprised to see Buffalo take Fromm in the fifth round because he’s the complete opposite of what Josh Allen is. Some people were even joking that Fromm is already the better QB. I definitely don’t believe that, but Fromm is a smart player that I expect to be efficient if he is ever called upon.

4.09 (Corey) – Deejay Dallas, RB – Seattle Seahawks

This pick is based solely on the opportunity and lack of RBs left at this point. Dallas has a chance to get some run early on in the season. Rashaad Penny had a bad knee injury at the end of the season, and he is likely to miss a large part of the 2020 season if not all of it. The Seahawks love to run the ball, and Chris Carson is also coming off a bad injury (hip).

4.10 (Jordan) – Gabriel Davis, WR – Buffalo Bills

In my last pick of the draft, I’m happy to take UCF’s Gabriel Davis so late in the process. Some analysts are scared of Davis’ landing spot in Buffalo, but the road to early-career playing time isn’t as crowded as it seems. Stefon Diggs is one of the premier wide receivers in the league, but the rest of the depth chart isn’t as daunting. John Brown is coming off a career-year and adds a speed element to the offense, but Davis and sixth-round pick Isaiah Hodgins bring some much-needed size to the position in Buffalo.

4.11 (Dennis) – Cole McDonald, QB – Tennessee Titans

In an attempt to draft at least one quarterback, I had slim pickings this late in this rookie draft. McDonald has a big arm and is an athletic QB who threw for 4135 yards at Hawaii in 2019. McDonald will battle Logan Woodside for the right to be Ryan Tannehill’s backup. If he can tighten up his throwing motion, McDonald could be a deep sleeper find for the Titans and dynasty fantasy managers.

4.12 (Andrew) – K.J. Hill, WR – Los Angeles Chargers

Mr. Irrelevant this time around is the one and only K.J. Hill. There were a few guys with better ADPs, but no one really wowed me outside of Hill. He went very late in the draft, almost as an afterthought, but I don’t mind taking the risk on him being great at 4.12. Welcome to the team, and welcome to the end of the draft!
