Which WR Dynasty Values Changed Following Free Agency?

    Drake London, Atlanta Falcons

No individual player saw his dynasty stock increase more from one transaction than Drake London. So clearly an elite talent, London has been held back by dreadful coaching and even worse quarterback play for the first two years of his career.

Finishing no higher than WR40, London’s dynasty value never matched his on-field production. Now, it still may not…just in the other direction.

Justin Jefferson was always going to be a megastar. But would he be a perennial contender for overall WR1 without Kirk Cousins? Well, we’re about to find out.

Conversely, we are going to get to see what Cousins means for London. Based on the reaction from the dynasty community, the answer is we all expect big things.

Unless we’re all wrong about London’s talent profile, he just went from WR3 hopeful to having top-five upside.

With Cousins locked in for the next four seasons, London may be a consensus top-five dynasty WR by the end of September.

    Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the young receivers. This is a make-or-break year for Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The Seahawks’ sophomore receiver appears talented, but he was unable to command more than a 17% target share as a rookie. Of course, he had to contend with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett for targets. That was always going to be a challenge.

JSN needs to become the No. 2 option in this passing game in 2024. He’s not going to touch Metcalf, but it would be a major indictment on his ability if he cannot unseat 32-year-old Tyler Lockett, who returned to the team on a restructured contract.

Smith-Njigba’s dynasty value is going to shift considerably this year. If he’s the same guy he was last year, or even merely slightly better, fantasy managers will start to believe it’s not happening. But if it does happen, he may vault into the top 12.

    Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings

There’s no denying Jordan Addison had an excellent rookie season. His performance suggests a long and successful career. The talent is undeniably there. But the situation does matter.

Last season, Addison averaged 15.8 fantasy points per game with Kirk Cousins at quarterback, but only 10.5 points per game without him. The Vikings should end up with better QB play from Sam Darnold/a rookie than they got from Joshua Dobbs, Nick Mullens, and Jaren Hall. However, this situation is clearly worse for Addison than it would’ve been had Cousins re-signed.

Long-term, Addison should be fine. But for the next 2-3 years, Addison’s production may lag behind what we’d expect from a player with his ability.
