Who Are the Best Players To Draft in Dynasty?
Ja’Marr Chase
Is Ja’Marr Chase the forgotten man among the elite wide receivers? It kind of feels that way after what was undoubtedly a disappointing 2023 campaign, largely due to Joe Burrow’s inability to stay healthy.
Yet, Chase still averaged 16.4 fantasy points per game, finishing as the overall WR11. We’re talking about one of the five best WRs in the NFL, tethered to a young, elite quarterback, on a pass-first offense.
Chase is still only 24 years old. There’s an argument to be made that due to his predictable situation, he’s worth drafting ahead of Justin Jefferson. Either way, Chase is well worth a first-round selection in dynasty startup drafts.
Christian McCaffrey
It’s difficult to rank older running backs in dynasty Superflex leagues. Whether you want to draft someone like Christian McCaffrey early in a dynasty startup really depends on your approach to drafting.
If you’re going for it all in Year 1, McCaffrey is likely undervalued. If you’re building for 2025 and beyond, you will feel as though he’s going too early.
Regardless of what you do, the fact remains that McCaffrey is the best non-QB in all of fantasy football. He’s coming off his second career overall RB1 finish, averaging 24.5 fantasy points per game.
Although he’s 28 years old, McCaffrey has a skill set that should age reasonably well. He likely has another two or three years at the top remaining. If that’s good enough for you, there’s an argument to be made that he’s worth a first-round selection in dynasty startups.
