Which QB Dynasty Values Changed Following Free Agency?
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Fantasy managers know full well what Justin Fields is capable of. In 2022, He had a seven-week stretch where he never scored below 21 fantasy points. That included back-to-back 40-point outings. In 2023, Fields wasn’t quite as good, but he scored 25+ fantasy points in five of his 13 starts.
Few quarterbacks have quite the ceiling that Fields has. Unfortunately, Fields, the NFL quarterback, isn’t nearly as good as Fields, the fantasy quarterback. As a result, it’s been no secret the Chicago Bears intend to trade him and use the No. 1 overall pick on Caleb Williams.

Given the state of the QB position in the NFL, while Fields may not be the greatest, he’s undoubtedly only one of the 32 best quarterbacks walking the planet. But after free agency, it’s looking increasingly likely that Fields may be forced to settle for a backup job in 2024.
By no means has Fields made his last NFL start. Nevertheless, if he enters this season as a backup, that’s terrible news for his dynasty value.
Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons
The move from the Minnesota Vikings to the Atlanta Falcons does way more for the guys already on the Falcons than it does for Kirk Cousins. It’s Cousins who makes the team better, not the other way around. Even so, he’s worth talking about.
Cousins spent the past three seasons enjoying the benefits of throwing to the best wide receiver in football. He’s always enjoyed multiple quality pass catchers in Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, as well as a strong running game featuring Dalvin Cook.

In Atlanta, Cousins won’t have a receiver quite as good as Jefferson, but Drake London and Kyle Pitts are pretty good consolation prizes. Bijan Robinson may end up being better than peak Cook, giving Cousins an even stronger running game than he’s accustomed to.
All of this is to say Cousins is set up for success as he plays out the latter portion of his career with Atlanta. He may be old and coming off a torn Achilles, but there’s no reason dynasty managers should expect any sort of dip in production from the usual 18-20 fantasy points per game Cousins provides.
Gardner Minshew, Las Vegas Raiders
After his unexpectedly successful rookie season, it’s always been a bit of a surprise that Gardner Minshew couldn’t get a starting job. He’s far from the greatest QB in the league, but there definitely aren’t 32 out there better than him.
Minshew had to settle for the backup role in Indianapolis last season. It was unfortunate to see the electric Anthony Richardson go down, but his injury opened the door for Minshew to prove himself…and he did.

Minshew didn’t light the world on fire, but he was a competent starter for the Colts, almost getting them into the playoffs. From a fantasy perspective, he only averaged 12.8 fantasy points per game, but Minshew was a viable streamer for multiple weeks, posting six games of 15+ fantasy points.
Now, Minshew gets another chance to start in Las Vegas, putting his dynasty value at a higher level now than it was a year ago.
