Drew Lock Salary, Contract, and Net Worth: How Much Money is the Giants QB Making?

The New York Giants recently released Daniel Jones and named Tommy DeVito their new starting quarterback. However, DeVito is dealing with a right forearm injury that will sideline him on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys, so Drew Lock will get the start for the Giants. Let’s examine Lock’s salary, contract, and net worth.

    Drew Lock’s Contract and Salary

Last offseason, Lock signed a one-year deal with the Giants that will pay him up to $5 million this season. He has a $2.95 million base salary and a $2 million signing bonus, and the deal features $4.95 million guaranteed. His cap hit for this season is $5 million.

Also, Lock’s deal reportedly features up to $3 million in incentives that the quarterback could earn if he continues starting for the Giants. Spotrac suggests that these incentives are a big reason why New York initially decided to start DeVito over Lock.

As the tweet notes, Lock’s contract features the following incentives:

    • 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%+ of snaps: $250,000 each
    • 92.5 passer rating: $250,000
    • 65% completion rate: $250,000
    • 88 passer rating + 15 TD passes: $250,000
    • 88 passer rating + 2,000 passing yards: $250,000
    • 55%-69% of snaps + playoff berth: $500,000
    • 70%+ of snaps + playoff berth: $500,000

While Lock likely wouldn’t be able to earn all of these incentives, it’s possible the Giants opted to start DeVito to save some money (and tank) in a lost season.

When Giants head coach Brian Daboll initially announced that DeVito would start, Lock told reporters that he was “definitely disappointed.”

Lock is currently the 36th-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. He’s earning the same salary as Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton and Denver Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham.

Lock’s Net Worth and Career Earnings

Lock was drafted in the second round (No. 42 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, where he played from 2019-2021. Then, after a two-year stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Lock joined the Giants last offseason.

Over the course of his six-year NFL career, Lock has earned $15,848,923 from his NFL contracts alone. This doesn’t include his endorsement deals or off-field ventures.

Lock’s net worth is estimated to be somewhere in the range of $4.5 million to $7 million.

Thanksgiving Day will be a big opportunity for Lock to show what he can do on national television, and perhaps he can earn the starting job for the remainder of the season.
