Drake Maye Reveals He’s Recruiting Stars to New England, Expects Patriots To ‘Make Some Moves This Offseason’

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye has been busy at the NFL Pro Bowl Games and admitted in a recent interview that he has been busy recruiting other stars to come to New England this offseason.

    Maye Reveals His Plans

On a recent episode of “Up and Adams,” Maye revealed what he’d been doing at the Pro Bowl this week.

“I definitely think a little bit,” Maye said when asked if he recruited any Pro Bowlers to New England. “I definitely got to know some of the guys. Tell them a little bit about Boston, about Foxborough, about Gillette a little bit, some about the fan base. It’s definitely time to get to know some guys and let them know that the Pats got some things to make some moves this offseason.”

Maye reached out to several players while he was there and even got a chance to play with the likes of Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr.

Maye talked about playing with Chase at the Pro Bowl and what it was like to throw to him and other Pro Bowl receivers.

“Ja’Marr made it pretty easy,” Maye said about the touchdown. “I think he beat him off the line. And my job was just to get it up to him, give him a chance. And I think he created enough room where I could throw it about anywhere. So it was fun throwing to a guy like that. And you know what season he had. It was fun to be at the Pro Bowl, around all the guys”

“Yeah. It is pretty nice. It’s pretty nice. But hey, we got some guys in Foxboro that are doing their thing, so I gotta do a better job giving them the rock.”

Maye was then asked if he could sign any of those guys, which receivers would it be?

“Ja’Marr is obviously a great answer,” Maye said. “Shoot, another receiver there that I met – Nico Collins was awesome. Nico was awesome… Justin Jefferson. He’s easy – easy person to come to Foxborough.”

While Chase may not be an option, Bengals free agent Tee Higgins may be a possibility for the Patriots during the offseason. Higgins averaged 76 yards per game on the season for 911 yards and ten touchdowns. If the Patriots somehow can add Higgins to their roster, that would be a huge feather in their cap moving forward with Maye at quarterback.

Maye finished the season ranked 19th in PFN’s QB+ metric ranking with a grade of C. If he is to improve as a starter, it can start with the Patriots surrounding him with better talent this upcoming offseason.
