Dorian Thompson-Robinson Injury Update: Latest on Browns Rookie QB

    Published on

Dorian Thompson-Robinson took a hard shot against the Broncos on Sunday and left the game. What happened to DTR, and what's the latest on the Browns QB?

The Cleveland Browns have already dealt with injuries at the quarterback position this season — and now their current starter is hurt.

Rookie signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson sustained a massive hit from Denver Broncos pass rusher Baron Browning on Sunday and had to leave the game. What’s the latest on DTR?

    Dorian Thompson-Robinson Injury Update

Thompson-Robinson went down after taking a hit from Browning near the end of the third quarter. While Browning didn’t hit DTR in the head, he was called for a 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty.

Although he was able to jog off the field, Thompson-Robinson had a bloody lip and immediately entered the blue medical tent on Cleveland’s sideline.

DTR was initially labeled as questionable while being evaluated for a head injury, but he was eventually ruled out after being diagnosed with a concussion.

P.J. Walker, who’s already made two starts for the Browns this season, took over under center. Cleveland fumbled on a trick play two snaps later, giving Denver the ball back in a tight fourth quarter.

The Browns’ 2023 quarterback situation has been highlighted by change. Deshaun Watson started five of Cleveland’s first nine games but never started more than three in a row while dealing with a shoulder injury that eventually ended his season.

Thompson-Robinson took over for Watson in Week 4 but threw three interceptions in his first NFL start. Watson and Walker then split starts over the next five weeks while Watson managed his injury.

DTR will likely have trouble clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol in time for the Browns’ Week 13 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Walker could start, but Cleveland also has veteran Joe Flacco on its practice squad.

    Fantasy Fallout From DTR’s Injury

Thompson-Robinson accounted for 151 total yards and a passing touchdown before exiting the game. The fantasy needle will not move significantly for any of Cleveland’s skill position players — namely Amari Cooper, Jerome Ford, and David Njoku — with the move to Walker under center.
