Latest News and Injury Updates Impacting Fantasy

    DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Editor’s Note: Metcalf has been listed as questionable for the Seahawks’ Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Metcalf hasn’t been at 100% since suffering a rib injury on a big hit from a defender in the Seahawks’ Week 2 contest against the Detroit Lions.

However, he has managed to make it out onto the field for every single game since that point, and he’s managed to still make an impact for fantasy football over that time frame. Through six weeks, Metcalf is the WR36 on the season in half-PPR scoring formats.

As the Seahawks begin to prepare for their divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals this week, though, Metcalf is missing practice yet again with his rib injury. His status for this game is currently unknown.

He’s missed practice pretty regularly since Week 2 but has managed to play in every single game. Consequently, fantasy managers shouldn’t be incredibly worried right now. It is worth keeping a close eye on as the week progresses because fantasy managers need Metcalf to be out there with so many teams on their bye week.

    Tyler Lockett, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Editor’s Note: Lockett does not carry an injury designation for the Seahawks’ Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Over the course of his NFL career, Lockett has developed a reputation as being a boom-or-bust option for fantasy football. While that straightened out a bit last season with Geno Smith having a career year, it’s seemingly moved back to previous patterns here in 2023.

Through five games up to this point of the season, Lockett has finished inside of the top 24 WRs twice, while he’s landed outside of the top 40 WRs the other three weeks.

He had a solid performance against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 coming out of the team’s bye week, but his ability to build off of that may be in jeopardy as he’s now battling a hamstring injury.

On Wednesday, Lockett was a limited participant in practice — his status for Week 7 is currently unknown. No news was made public regarding Lockett suffering a hamstring injury during Week 6’s game, so this may be just a minor issue that the coaching staff was willing to give a veteran WR a bit of rest to heal up fully.

Thursday’s practice report on Lockett will be massive for determining whether or not he’ll be able to suit up against the Cardinals this week. We’ll keep you updated as soon as the information becomes available.

    Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Editor’s Note: Charbonnet has been listed as questionable for the Seahawks’ Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Charbonnet certainly has the talent — and draft capital — to signal that he could be a viable fantasy starter. However, in this backfield, he’s simply not being given the opportunity to contribute.

Kenneth Walker has maintained a stranglehold on this backfield, and he doesn’t seem intent on giving it up any time soon. If Walker were to ever miss any time, though, Charbonnet would instantly shoot up to the top of the RB waiver wire priority list.

The rookie RB is now missing practice with a hamstring injury that puts his Week 7 status up in the air. While there’s little to break down from a fantasy standpoint for Charbonnet himself, it would likely mean even more opportunity for Walker if Charbonnet is unable to make it back in time for this game.

In a week where six teams — and several key RBs are on bye — Walker may end up being ranked as the overall RB1 in our PFN Consensus Rankings when it’s all said and done.
