Is DK Metcalf Playing in Week 11?

DK Metcalf is officially back. The Seahawks’ WR1 returned to practice this week for the first time since injuring his knee in Week 7 and is ready to go against the division-rival 49ers on Sunday.

While Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that Metcalf would be limited for Wednesday’s practice, he actually wound up practicing in full. He did the same thing Thursday and Friday before being removed from the club’s injury report.

Metcalf was leading Seattle in targets and receptions when he went down last month. He’s since been usurped by Jaxon Smith-Njigba in targets and catches, but the two now have the exact same yardage total (568) on the season.

JSN was a target hog in the Seahawks’ last game before their Week 10 bye, catching seven passes on 13 targets for 180 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams. Metcalf’s return to the lineup in Week 11 will likely lower Smith-Njigba’s ceiling.

We’ll continue to monitor the Seahawks’ injury report. You can also visit and bookmark our NFL Injury Tracker and Fantasy News Tracker for the latest updates.

Should You Start or Sit DK Metcalf in Week 11?

It’s been a rough run of late for DK Metcalf managers (consecutive DNPs leading into the Week 10 bye), but reporting out of Seattle is optimistic for his Week 11 status in this divisional showdown.

Is the upside the same for Metcalf as it has been in the past? I’d argue no. His targets per red zone route run is down to 20.8% after posting three seasons north of 32%, and with Geno Smith playing inconsistent ball (as many games with a sub-5.5-yard aDOT as over 8.5 yards), there is more volatility in this profile than years past.

That said, we are talking about one of the premier athletes who is averaging a career-high 125.1 air yards per game. The matchup isn’t ideal (4.4 yards per target for Metcalf in the Week 6 meeting), but given the state of the receiver position these days, you’re playing him and not thinking twice about it.
