DJ Moore Injury Update: Latest on Bears WR After Apparent Injury vs. Packers in Week 11

    Published on

Here's the latest on Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore after he briefly exited Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers with an apparent injury.

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore suffered an apparent injury in the club’s Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Here’s the latest from Sunday’s game.

    What Happened to DJ Moore?

Moore went to Chicago’s locker room just before the end of the second quarter in Week 11. He was accompanied by members of the club’s medical staff.

It remains unclear what Moore was dealing with or when he suffered this injury. He played 28 of 30 offensive snaps before leaving the game and was the Bears’ featured player through two quarters.

Moore had caught six passes on six targets for 56 yards before departing today’s contest. No other Chicago pass catcher had more than two targets or one reception at halftime.

Entering Week 11, Moore led the Bears in targets (55) and catches (40). His 398 yards trailed first-round rookie Rome Odunze (414), while Moore is tied with TE Cole Kmet with three receiving touchdowns.

Did Moore Return in Week 11?

Fortunately, Moore returned Sunday’s game after halftime. He appears to have avoided a significant injury.

However, it’s worth noting that Moore was significantly less involved in the second half. After catching six passes in the first half, he had just one reception in the second half. He finished the game with seven receptions for 62 yards while also adding one carry for five yards.

The Bears never announced an update on Moore’s injury, and head coach Matt Eberflus did not provide an update after Sunday’s game.

PFN+ Analysis on Moore’s Injury and the Bears Offense

It has not been a good season for Moore, who ranks 78th out of 105 WRs in PFN’s WR+ metric. His numbers are very mixed, but the most concerning is a catch rate five points below expectation and returning a negative yards after the catch per reception compared to expectation (0.15).

Moore is 20th from last when it comes to yards per target and 28th from last in yards per route. Given the excitement surrounding Moore entering the year with a new QB situation, this has been a troublesome return so far. After finishing as the WR10 last year, Moore has struggled so far this year, producing his worst season in our database.
